  1. People's expectations of F1 have gone insane, its almost always been a dominant team at the front, with everyone else playing catchup, McClaren back in the day, Schumi era Ferrari, Red Bull webber/Vettel years, Merc and now its with Red Bull again, 2021 was the exception not the rule. If you want exciting racing just watch the F2 or F3 races, they have mega action

  2. I'm pretty sure the overtakes were because of the re-surface + the rain removing the rubber over night. You can't go off the racing line, if there isn't a racing line.

  3. The race was pretty boring, but seeing Max being very consistent was great. The only question was if he could keep Checo at a large enough distance to make the stop without an overtake.

  4. Can i just say….. Not all Americans are that cringe. That was bad. I think you'll find a lot of us that say that.

  5. I would give De Vries at least the rest of the season. While he isn't the same type of rookie as regular rookies, he's still a rookie to F1. There are still new things to learn, according to Yuki he has trouble getting the setup right for example. And that's just something that takes time to fix. In the end Alphatauri is there to test new Red Bull drivers, not get great results. There isn't really as much of an incentive to switch drivers like what happened with Albon and Gasly and there isn't really an obvious replacement anyway who is going to make much of a difference given the car performance. Might as well take the rest of the season to evaluate the development of De Vries, the F2 drivers, and potentially Ricciardo and decide by the end of the season what to do for next year. Alphatauri is kinda like the Stroll of the teams. Decent but performance doesn't really matter in the end.

  6. Good race… and what’s more “if Max had been Lewis, all Brits would schout LEWIS MASTERCLASS, MASTERCLASS, THE BEST DRIVER… The GREATESTT a.s.o. But sadly enough for them is was Max.
This jumping up and down microphone waving presenter was biting his tongue. He was very, very disappointed…. and it shows. Yes I’m talking about… ahhhm,… bic…no ajhhhm…buxus… no sorry forgot his name.

  7. Great race imo, solid 7/10.
    1) strategy battle at the front & through the grid,
    2) safety car not ruining (1) for BS reason,
    3) plenty of overtakes not totally reliant on DRS,
    4) great drives from MV/FA/PG/GR/LH/KM,
    5) penalty drama,
    6) Haas in the points.

    It was proper F1

  8. The whole reason there is less excitement is because the British press cried along with Mercedes to lift the floor of the car.
Obviously in the hope that Mercedes would gain advantage.
The low floor was the whole reason racing got more exciting.
Since that change nearly all races have been won by RBR.
Mercedes should have changed their f*cking car, and the British press should stop crying because their golden boy can't win with a less performing car.
When does the mainly British biased F1 crowd accept that RBR and Max are a class on their own, just like Seb, Schumi and LewSir were.
On another note, are we really prepared to drop Spa for the american sh*tshow in Miami, that was full of celebs who never ever even seen a race.

  9. Europeans do the most cringe shit during yalls grand prix, Americans just don't talk about it constantly.

  10. I think you’re being too tough on Stroll. AM pitted him too late and he would’ve almost certainly overtaken Yuki had he had 1 more lap

  11. Was there a fight for the win? Tommo: "No" Mate what race were you watching? We literally had an overtake for the win and the guy who won started 9th. I don't get why people thought it was boring. Imo the best race this season because it didn't have any weird gimmicks like red flags or safety cars to make it exicitng. That level of excitement without gimmicks is a low end 8/10 for me. People who thought it was boring only watch races for the end result screen, the more crazy that is the better they think the race is.

  12. Bet Lawrence is like "Teach my son how to drive, be a nice mentor and I‘ll let you drive till ur fifty"

  13. Nyck Debris has had a very disappointing start, He keeps this up I can see Lawson taking his spot

  14. I genuinely think it wasn't a bad race. Most of the people calling it boring are calling it boring because their driver did badly or because they hate RB so much that they can't bear to enjoy their lives. There was a genuine battle for the win, two differing strategies for both cars and a pass for the lead in the dying laps. VER, HAM, STR all cutting through the field and producing decent overtakes, a nice little scrap between LEC & MAG, RUS passing SAI for p4, GAS producing a stellar drive, De Vries causing a collision, and lots of overtakes in general… I can understand why people don't want to see the Red Bull dominance and it may be frustrating for them, but that doesn't make the race itself a bad one. Most of the people calling it bad are just saying that because there wasn't 3 safety cars, 2 red flags and 1 driver hospitalisation, or they hate Max so much

  15. How is Nyck not a rookie … what a nonsense also your boy Yuki needed 3 seasons to even show something. This nonsense is just to silly. Can't even listen to this 1:14 min of dribble.
Just because he raced in other series makes him no expert in driving in an F1 car. Also Kvyat was not replaced he was swapped. And still got 2 season to prove himself.

  16. 10/10 race all the brainlets and fake fans get lost. The battle for the win was intriguing with alternate strategies and no SCs to ruin the conclusion.

  17. In the Formula 1.5 standings (which removes the Red Bulls, Ferraris, Mercedes' and Aston Martins from every race), Yuki Tsunoda is currently 2nd out of the 12 other drivers. He's only behind Gasly. Brilliant stuff from him so far. He's basically picked up 1x P2, 3x P4 and 1x P5 in the F1.5 calculations. He's Mr Consistent so far. F1.5 should be used to judge the lower drivers, because picking up a lucky bunch of points (like Zhou did), might put him ahead of Tsunoda in the F1 standings for the rest of the season, but it's not reflective of their performances

  18. Iwasa could jump in I think. He finished top 5 in F2 last year, and they could give him some FP1 sessions beforehand

  19. When in the letter half of the race Max increased the gap on checo with 25 laps older hards you just knew there's no way checo is going to win.

It's was kinda funny how crafty tried to hype up the "scrap for the lead" and Brundle just said what everyone was thinking that there's no way checo is going to keep Max behind with that tyre diffrence.

  20. Saying that this race didn't have fight for the win really discredits the insane fight max put up to be able to get into that position after his 1st stint. Do you really think a car on old hard tyres keeps up and even out paces a car on new hard tyres?

  21. Mostly those that are Mercedes fans will call the race boring. So pathetic

  22. So I looked into that average finishing position thing and Tsunoda is actually doing far better than I expected. Based on the official classification of the GP's, Tsunoda has an average finish position of 10,6 which means he's tied with Gasly at P9 in the rankings. I would rank Tsunoda above Gasly in this case because he actually finished all his races. And if you include all DNF's both of them jump Leclerc.

  23. The introduction they did of the drivers in Miami is very similar to what they would do in an NFL or an NBA game with the players. It is very American. Something they should definitely be doing in American F1 races because American fans like it and the gold here of F1 is to sell
    tickets. No fans no F1.

There’s definitely no need for those driver introductions at the European tracks. But things like the race warm up/build up can reflect the culture of the venue

  24. Yuki is quickly ending Nyck DeVries’ career. Nyck will be out by mid season-end if season latest. Poetic Justice after DeVries not very nasty describing Yuki in the press after he was signed. Not what I expected. But Yuki has made a giant leap forward this season.

  25. Lewis always performs well at his home race of British GP. Max killed it at Zandvoort. Not all drivers choke at the home races. The real champions don’t.

  26. Man I wish these live sessions were a bit more structured and organized so ultimately they were maybe 20-30 min shorter. I love your content and insight but I feel like you need a second person on talks like these to bounce ideas and to maybe keep the agenda rolling. I will volunteer myself 🙂

  27. Someone said that the Americanization is bad for the sport and as an American I couldn’t agree more I think Austin was AMAZING on its own and anything over 2 races in the same country is pushing it

  28. 38:50 there's a difference between what red bull did earlier and what you're talking about. Red Bull simply swapped two drivers from RB and TR/AT. As in two currently driving f1 drivers switching cars. In this case you'd have to get in someone who's not been driving the entire season which is not good. A new driver needs pres season testing and so on. It's also hard to jump into an f1 car mid season if you haven't been participating
