Yes, I’ve been saying tank and rebuild after the lackluster 17-18 season. I’ve been waiting to hopefully see Leipold come out and say “we’ve tried to win this way for several years now and it’s not working, so we are going to rebuild this organization from the ground up”.

Or when Fletcher was let go. Instead we’ve had 2 different GMs say we’re contenders here, we just need some tweaks. Though I haven’t heard Guerin call us contenders for the past 2 seasons now. Either way, the Minnesota Mids need to do something to change the 1 and done playoff culture that we’ve been experiencing for a decade now.

This isnt the NBA and its not the MLB. In the those sports you could pick a top 5 team coming into the post season and have about a 20% chance that team is gonna win it all. Its the NHL and it takes everything and then some to win. Boston, Tampa, Colorado all toasted in the first round! The NHL is the only sport IMO that making the playoffs gives you a 1/16 chance to win the cup(thats 6.25%). 16 pitches aint gonna win you a world series, 4 dropped passes in 4 games isnt gonna lose you the superbowl and 20 more made freethrows isnt gonna win you an NBA title! But in hockey a few great saves and a couple bad breaks of puck luck can make a great impact! It is by far the hardest sport to win it all, tanking is a douche move when you have a quite solid team(thats us by the way)…

  3. I think tanking would be a guaranteed way to lose the franchise again. You see how angry people are that we cant win a cup. If we cant win regular season either? Especially for the amount of years we need to tank? Minnesota has other hockey teams to watch, and the Wild would lose out. Not to mention how it would waste the talent we *do* have and make them less likely to stay. It’s just not worth it at this point.

We have way too much pride as a franchise and as a fanbase to tank.
