For me it's a no brainer, if Carlson & Will Smith are gone at 5, you have to take Michkov.
Not sure where you heard Habs won't pick michkov. But I'm pretty sure you have habsolutely no clue of what the Habs are thinking 😅
We should totally trust Mr. Gorton's and Mr. Hughes competence.
HABS fans must be patient for a few more years until the rebuild is complete.
This is no longer the Bergevin era thank goodness.
michkov is not dropping past 5 just stop bro montreal will drift smith or michkov
100% agree with you on Mitchkov. I cant see Russia not allowing Mitchkov to play in Canada. If he is available i think they should take him. Dubois seems pretty bent on joining Mtl in a couple of years, and Mitchkov wouldnt be ready to join us until 2026. Its a dream come true. We can still get a another top 5ish pick next summer, and maybe another top 10-12 the year after, and then we should be ready to push, and tweak the team to compete in the playoffs.
Kent Hughes lives, breathes and dreams hockey. And his team does exhaustive research not only on the skill of the player, but the character. Comparing him to Bergeron is criminal and clearly defamatory.
Let's get real: No one can always predict the future correctly.
Isn't Michkov under contract until 2025? The Habs would not be able to control his development for two years at least.
Russia is changing its rules about it's prospects. There is a good chance Mitchkov will not be able to come to the NHL even after his first KHL contract is over. Putin is not happy with the NHL.
🤔
There are 5 all-star prospects. We are picking 5th. Why are we complicating this?
The Habs said none of this stuff about Michkov. They wouldn't do that. Fact.
Redraft Carey Price.
I mean, I completely agree with what you said, they just need to pick whichever of Smith, Carlsson or Michkov is left on the board it’s not complicated.
If they don’t leave draft day with one of those guys it’s an absolute waste of a year in my opinion.
Matvei Michkov could easily be the 2nd best player in this draft. I'd rather wait 3 years for the 2nd best player, than get what'll amount to a kid we may have to wait 1 year for anyways… I'd gladly take Will Smith if he's available but depending on how it shakes out, it could be undeniable that Michkov is by far the best pick at 5 depending on who gets taken 3rd or 4th.
Listen. We have a scout named Nick Bobrov who happen to be russian, and have deep ties with the SKA St-Petersbourgh having worked for them for three years. He knows better than everyone if we should pick him or not, if he's worth the risk. Just trust the man and his competence. If we have to get Michkov, we'll get him. Quit stressing about it.
I mitchkov is available and they pass i will be beyond pissed.
That Daigle thing is incredible haha also I bought a yakupov jersey
why do you want to wait till 2027 to get michkov. that's 4 years of waiting to see if he wants to play in the nhl.. if we take him, we are dumb
I totally take the risk with Michkov, if the russian situation wasnt what it is, he would go #2 right behind Bedard!! Go Habs Go!!
You never know how any player is going to transition into the NHL, that being said they definitely know more about this than we do, we’re on YouTube talking about them, they work for the Montreal Canadiens in the NHL
Don’t want this miss this edition of Habs digest? I don’t want to miss any edition of Habs Digest! 🩵❤️
Smith will be gone beteem 1-4!
He won’t be available to Habs
Regardless of which of the player that drops down to the 5th pick from Michkov, Smith, or Leo and we don't draft him, they better be sure of what they are doing. Because if that player doesn't bust and/or stays in Russia past his current contract and goes to outperform the player we pick, it will look very bad. Considering that the team looks like to try to speed up the rebuild (Dach trade + insistant rumors on Dubois), this pick and next year's pick will probably dictate the next 10 years of the franchise, I can't stand the idea of going back to the same rebuild loops that I've lived (Koivu/Markov and Price eras). Montreal deserves a top team, we suffered enough with sub-par teams
PLEASE don’t draft dvorsky
Michkov. Bye!
This Russian geopolitical situation won't last that long once Biden/DemocRATS are elected out of the White House (2 years time). Thus no need to sweat if Habs select Michkov.
Reinbacher would be the absolute worst possible pick they could make
Michkov is obviously the pick to make if top4 goes :
Bedard, Fantilli, Carlsson, Smith.
Benson or Leonard wouldn’t be THAT bad.
Dvorsky I’m not so sure.
Reinbacher… I might never watch another game of the Habs EVER.
If I hear the words: The Canadiens select…from U.S. high-school…I'm gonna snap.
I just hope that whoever we pick is a homerun. We've taken the wrong guy a bunch of times and missed out on some huge stars.
I want the steal of the draft this time.
Hughes and Gorton are magicians of misdirection. I bet they want all of us to believe they won't take Mishkov at number 5. Unless there are concerns about his caractère of family ( we don't want another gualchenyuk, there is no reason not to pick him up. We are in no hurry … just getting were we all want to end up. Go Habs Go
Unfortunately jackets are going to draft will smith. Now we could potentially get leo carlson if san jose decides to go for mithkov. Ill be happy with smith, carlson, mithkov or benson (hes gonna be a mitch marner/barzal type player)
Our best option is that mithkov isnt available for us at 5th which means were getting leo or smith!
What if Kent Hughes played poker and Bobrov made an agreement with Michkov to come play for us? American teams are in my opinion less likely to get him because the war is basically Russia vs USA
if habs dont take michkov, carlson or smith im gonna lose it lol
If Will Smith is available it will be Will Smith you can bet the mortgage money on that. Michkov is too small. He's listed at 5'10 and only 148 pounds. There are 9 players on the Canadian Women's national hockey team that weigh more than he does.
It’s 2026. Matvei Michkov arrives in the NHL at 21 years old.
He signs his 3 year ELC with the Habs at $950,000. He’s cost-controlled until age 25.
He slots into the top six:
Slafkovsky (22)-Dubois (27)-Michkov (21)
Suzuki (26)-Dach (25)-Caufield (25)
The window opens.
Hi Josh, great video👍
The worst draft the Habs history was Doug Wickenheiser.
This year there will be no surprises in the top 5, forget about that bum dvorsky or zach benson🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂ Bédard Michkov fantilli smith and carlsson will be the top 5 and you’d have to be off your medication to think Michkov will be available at number 5. So I think the habs will grab carlsson
Nothing wrong with picking any of those 5 and I think all of them will be in the nhl next year except Michkov as all those guy would be 1st overall if they were in the 2022 draft
So if the habs draft carlsson at number 5 , this will start to look like a decent top 9 with maybe one UFA addition
Dach, Suzuki, Slafkovsky, RHP, caufield, carlsson, Anderson Evans
Which leaves only 4 spots for Hoffman, armia, gallagher, pezzetta , dvorak, Farrell ,pitlick and that’s not mentioning young guys who will be making a push like Roy, Beck, kappanen , heineman, ylonen and mesar
If michkov is available at 5th , this could be good for the habs as they don’t have much space in the lineup right now
Yeah yeah Andreï Kostityn was one of the must talented forward in 2003 draft…..habs pick him 11e….rest is history…calm down
Dvorsky is a bum but after drafting Slafkovsky and mesar i wouldn’t put it passed the habs🤦♂🤦♂
is there a possibility of Mitchkov never getting out of russia? and if so, what are the %s ???
