He’s a dick and an idiot, but I don’t get the racism angle. I have an awkward Belgian last name that was always made fun of in school. Nobody made fun of it because it’s Belgium, but because it’s weird sounding and spelt. Never saw it as a race thing. And as a kid I’d much prefer a last name like whitecloud.
The guy was just trying (horribly) to be funny. I almost guarantee he had no idea it was an indigenous name.

I am momma-bear levels of protective of ALL of the boys but of Zach especially.
This whole thing is like a master class in historically oppressed communities being put on the position of having to educate everyone else about their oppression and the ways in which it continues. Those of us in positions of privilege need to STFU like 99% of the time and educate ourselves rather than making the people we’ve hurt do it.

When I heard this on the TV, I was appalled that I had heard it. No surprise this morning Whitecloud addressed it, and good on him for taking the high road here. Hopefully Anderson is disciplined for this.

Don’t get me wrong it’s a stand up move to forgive the guy and come out and talk about it being a learning opportunity but that interview was like 4 minutes too long. I started fast forwarding through it and thought it may be on loop due to the repetition.

This situation is alot more peaceful then I was expecting. Surprised there isn’t a Twitter shit show from people outside the nhl im honestly surprised John still has a job. Zac has handled this situation well
