Solid video. I think the only thing worth mentioning that he left out was that Jeannot had a brutal knee injury before the playoffs. Not sure if he would have contributed massively anyway, but anyone who saw him in the playoffs and that injury knows he was not really set up for success.

Was he suggesting Hagel was an overpay? Seemed like he didn’t quite finish the thought, but that would be silly.

Overall solid take as usual though.

Don’t blame him on harping on the Jeannot trade, but lets give him next season at least

This was a good watch. The boys have been crazy busy the past five years or so. I wasn’t even that upset with our Round 1 loss this year.

I do hope we have a more consistent and dominant season next year though. This past season we had some long pockets of shitty play. It was hard to watch those games bc I know how great this team can be.

Vasy alluded to embracing the rest and training he’ll get during a long offseason. I hope he takes it. They’ve never said exactly why he was off his game this past year but maybe he just needs rest? Possibly less starts during the season?

Jeannot, in my opinion, is JBB’s attempt at a bigger/younger Goodrow. He’s going to chip in 10-14 goals a year and about the same in assists. But he’s really on the ice to grind the opposition’s top players and kill penalties. Just like I think we signed Paul as a bigger version of Yanni. I’m sure the organization was hoping to resign Colton and make him the last piece of the 3rd line. Although with Mikey, they may have the 3rd piece if they don’t resign Colton. That 3rd line is the reason they have 2 cups and JBB is trying really hard to recreate it, but with younger guys, so they can keep the window open that much longer. It just stings that they had to give up so much for a 3rd liner.
I like the hockey guy, but he didn’t mention, aside from Stammer and Heddy, the rest of that core is in their mid 20’s and Kuch being late 20’s. Heddy still has years in him. I wonder what Stammer will take next year with his money. The future of keeping the window open depends on the cap space this year and next, and what Stammer wants vs what Hagel wants in term and length of contract.

We also needed a fighter & that is definitely Jeannot. No disrespect but Maron’s fights have not been as good as they used to be. We have Cernak but he is in and out of the line up with injuries and always banged up.
