Tampa is out in the first round, something we last saw in 2019. Can they rebound and remain a contender?

As long as we have Point and Vas this team can build around those two players
Poor Chicago. Who gives a sh*t about their self inflicted problem. You should apply your Chicago compassion to Tampa too.
Honestly my thoughts on this is that Tampa really should've won. They dominated in game 1 but Cernak was taken out for the whole series and Headman was taken out for game 2, that game 2 Toronto destroys Tampa and runs away with the series. I get the idea that you have to roll with the punches and that injuries happen but what makes me angry is when a player who is easily replaceable on his roster intentionally injures a cornerstone of the other team.
When it came out to the public that Vassey has trouble seeing through traffic it got me thinking about how different it would've been if Cernak hadn't been injured. Which is why even though this series broke Toronto's curse (kinda they're about to be swept) it feels fake and tainted. I feel like we were robbed of a second battle of Florida.
The pics for Jeannot was suicide. Smell a Tampa rebuild?
I think Tampa have probably one more serious shot at the Cup then they're done.
I read somewhere Corey Perry did tell a local journalist he does want to continue playing (pro hockey rumours)
WHAT ABOUT KUCH?????
Jeannot deal still hurts, I don't know what the hell happend to JBB and pro scouting that day.
Anyone else feel like they could listen to Shannon read the back of a cereal box and be interested? I can’t put my finger on it he’s just so damn likable and I’m waiting for some network to poach him off YouTube. Shannon would you make the jump to a network if offered?
The Lightning have to resign Jeannot regardless of the poor year, im interested to see what the deal will look like. If im Jeannot’s agent im putting the trade details on the table and saying “look how much you think he is worth”.
Look babe, a THG Lightning video!!!
Tampa will be back – too much talent and I feel like tweaks here and there make them still a very dangerous team. Expect a bounce back next year. With all those finals runs they have played the equivalent of another half season on top of three straight regular seasons so this time off probably helps them a lot
I think they just need more depth specifically speed and definitely a solid backup goalie to give Vasy a break. This team is still so young they’ll be competitive for years
Alnefelt will hopefully be ready to be a back up goaltender
I could 100% see killorn taking a huge discount to stay in Tampa he loves it here
We need to let Maroon walk I have been saying this the last two years he is much muhc too slow for the current nhl, jeanautte can take his place
Window? I've got one word: Vasilevskiy. Elite goalie just entering his prime (goalie prime). You don't do a tear down when you've got the world's best goaltender. Obviously, I expect he bounces back and the team sorts out just what went so wrong with its defense, which was a problem throughout the season. I foresee a stretch of retooling for another 3 seasons or so, while Stamkos and Hedman reach their inevitable declines. Then I could see a rebuild. But for now, while Stamkos and Hedman still have a lot left, and Kucherov remains a top-5 scoring forward, and Brayden Point remains a criminally underrated top-10 center in the game, and while Sergachev continues to mature into a No. 1 dman … you don't even think about tearing down that kind of team. Since the flat cap should only be a problem for one more year, the Lightning in 2023-24 could have another disjointed season like this last one. But it should get better and easier for Brisebois once the cap goes up. He's still an amazing GM.
Alex Barre-Boulet is too good for the AHL and he might finally get his chance for a full season with Tampa, he's 25 years old and he could become another Jonathan Marchessault or Yanni Gourde
Lightning may build a winning attitude in 2023-2024. Whoever is in the lineup, they can surprise us.
That Hagel trade was a win win. He wasn’t a rental, so obviously the price was a premium. He plays like a 5/6 million dollar player, yet he only makes 1.5 million for another year. But that trade with Nashville is easily one of the worst NHL trades in years .
This off-season determines whether Tampa is like Detroit in the 90s and 2000s or another Cup winner that wins a few times and then has to rebuild. Like LA.
Seemed that Kucherov was uninspired and pretty much invisible.
I don't mind trading back for McDonagh…
Vasy was trouble with injury.. 1st round loss is good for him to recover
Expecting his great performance next season
Lightning still going to be here
Well a lot say about this team…yes I was saying all year the depth wasn't there and the Leafs had passed themin this department. In the playoffs showed as not being able to finish games off and looking gassed at the end proved to be their undoing. Yes also a lot of hockey played the last several seasons also adds to fatigue and when injuries occur less opportunities to cover with a quality replacement. We saw our goalie clearly showing signs of fatigue this year and without a reliable backup not a chance to spell him enough. Ok looking ahead what do we have? Ok still one of the better core of Star players and prehaps with a full off season maybe rejuvenate. Now the negatives… No Cap space so likely to lose additional depth like Kilorn…might lose some Blueline depth (already an issue) if Perry retires…no high draft picks in the foreseeable future to help backfill or to make trades to add depth. The Atlantic has some very young and talented teams on the move…Sabres, Sens and our friend Stevie Y's Wings ready to get into playoffs. The Panthers showing they are gonna be contenders also for sometime to come….not great for older teams like Boston and Tampa to have to maintain their positions….so what do I think well with a healthy and rested group perhaps tgey can closely get back to the level they were before and that's assuming Vassy is the goalie we know again. I am really not sure however this team has enough to be Cup contenders again.
This season was just full of bad moves, Namestnikov signing was total brainfart, McDonagh move didn't give anything back, Jeannot trade was a total ripoff and the guy didn't even play when it mattered. BriseBois needs to do better job to keep this team in the hunt for couple years.
Those 1st rounders being top 10 protected is a big deal. I didn't know that JBB had put that stipulation in there.
If Stamkos, followed by Hedman, signs a team friendly retirement contract, which is very possible, our cap situation would look a lot better.
Great information as always.
I still dont understand how or why they would trade away so much just for a grit guy in Jeannot
Nobody takes into account how these playoff series add wear and tear onto these players. Deep runs and Stanley Cup championships cut into rest and recovery time.
How easily people forget that jeannot played on a high ankle sprain. I’ll be the first tbl fan to say the trade looks horrible but if you’re gonna mention injuries that other players were going through I think that’s definitely relevant
My thoughts without looking at exact calculations on CF: write off Cole and Bellemare, let them walk. Give Perry one more year under a mil if he wants it, but if he doesn’t, keep him involved in the org even if it’s informally. Coop has said before what a good analytical hockey brain he has, and what a leader in the locker room he is.
If we have the money to resign Killer, I’d keep him over Jeannot. I’d like to keep Colton too, and I’m okay letting Jeannot walk if it means keeping both of them. Write it off as a win-now decision that didn’t pan out and move on; even JBB makes mistakes sometimes.
Find a way to give Hagel a good extension. He’s earned it. Resign Stammer – he’s said he only wants to be a Bolt, start working with him now to remind him how committed the admin is to that idea.
Pick up a real 1B goalie to let Vasy rest. Bring up ABB and one other (Dumont, Fortier, Koepke) from the Crunch and then find a better McDonagh replacement than Cole.
That’s the priorities for me after almost ten years of being a Bolts fan. I think they still have another year, but in terms of the window analogy, I think it is starting to close. The off-season moves will decide whether it gets reopened or shut further.
As a Tampa fan I can only hope the extended time off this summer helps them heal and rest up and come back with a vengance for next season.
That Jeannot trade is still one of the worlds greatest mysteries though.
Not much upside for Colton????
Colton over the last 2 seasons 1.14 goals per 60
Playing with 3/4th liners compared to say
Tavares. 1.12
Kubalik .9
Marchand 1.16
Panerin 1.00
