  1. Im sorry, I have to comment on the Scandinavian name thing. Its not a big deal I know, but the love-hate relation thing between neighboring countries. I mean you dont want to be mistaken for being from the "wrong" country ; )

"Johansen" is not a Scandinavian pronunciation for Johansson. Johansson is a Swedish name and its pronounced Johansson. In Norway or Denmark it would have been spelled and pronounced Johansen. Son in Sweden, sen in Denmark and Norway.
I know Swedish players sometimes says "sen" but it's probably just an adaptation to speak "American English".

  2. Will this trade make more sense to you when adding that Dean Evason likes Johansson and believes he can turn it around plus he gets along great with Ek and Brodin and skates with them when they are in sweden?

  3. Johansson was a useful player for my Bruins in'19, but there was no way he was worth what Buffalo gave him; how could Minnesota not have gotten more for him?

  4. With $11M in cap space, I wonder if Guerin is planning on trying to sign a big free agent like RNH or maybe bring Granlund back. A playmaker like RNH would fit nicely between Fiala and Kaprizov. Johansson would likely get moved back to wing. Greenway and Kunin are RFA's, but it won't take much to resign both.

  5. Honestly as a Bruins fan if MoJo can get back to his level in the 2019 playoffs I think this trade could surprise a lot of people in working out for Minnesota. He was snipping with coyle and our third line was outplaying the first at some points. I know Stall appears to be the better player on paper but players usually go on to die in Buffalo these days. MoJo getting a fresh start could be interesting. Also regardless of the money I don't think MoJo would have stayed with Boston because of the Marchand elbow.

  6. Makes a ton of sense for Buffalo. They get a bridge at center to help them ease in Cozens & probably help Mitts & he helps them get closer to that 70M cap they want to reach. Plus, you reunite Skinner and Staal

For Minnesota…. Yeah, it's simply just not good. You move out your only true top 6 C for at best a middle sixer who struggles dearly at center. So you create an even bigger hole at center, lose money and crowd the wings even more cause even tho he's supposed to be a center in Minne, he's not that. He also doesn't help balance out the right-left stick forward ratio. Oh yeah, hes Also much worse. Better skater and younger (still 30) but that's really it

Seems like a panic move by Guerin to try and shakeup the core. He also is probably banking on Staal falking off of a cliff. I'm also pretty sure Evason knows Marcus from Washington so he probably brought him up as a player of interest and Guerin probably asked about him and Buffalo probably asked about Staal and Guerin, still young in his GM tenure & feeling pressure to make moves, accepted thinking it was a better deal than it actually was

  7. Billy G 95' Devils

Golden Girls? Thank you for being a friend… You think Kevyn Adams and Bill Guerin are buddies?

  8. We put a lot of pressure on Marcus Jo and he didn't rise there was a big stretch where he was non-existent he was playing every game not doing anything very streaky. With Eric Staal you get that stability he might be no spring chicken but his mature hockey sense is going to help this team climb out of the basement and make the playoffs. It right away if I was Ralph Krueger I put him on the second line with Skinner and Dominic Kahun. Hopefully Dylan cozens can have a great camp and push the lineup to get that third centerman spot. Unfortunately unless we see something different Casey Middle School is just going to be a Rochester American until further notice.

  9. Sabres won this trade. I expect another trade where it will look like the Wild won and then this will all make sense.

  10. The Sabres still need another center. I'm not big on Staal as a number 2 center. Make another trade for a better center and move Staal to a number 3 center.

  11. Just to add. Minn got N. Bjugstad a few days ago from the Pens. Pretty sure he had surgery and was ruled out for half of next season. Not sure if this adds anything, just something I remembered.

  12. Wild Fan… yes, Staal was not liked. Minnesota prides itself on defense, Staal did not. His lack of speed was the biggest issue. We already have one slow as dirt guy that can't play defense or touch another human (check) in Suter, one had to go. Suter with his contract and no trade clause is dead weight. The team is trying to get younger. We also tried to move Parise.

  13. It's a pretty simple trade to understand. Guerin wants to implode his team, to get some high draft picks the next couple years. Or, he needs a younger player like Johansson to include in a larger package deal with Dumba. We pretty much have to trade Dumba before Seattle gets him for free. Am I the only person who realizes this?

  14. I can tell you what you are missing. In order for the Vikings to get rid of Diggs, the Pegulas insisted on more value. What the good folks in Minnesota didn't realize is that the Pegulas had paid Diggs behind the scenes to cause an uproar in Minnesota by his social media exploits, thereby making him seem less valuable, when in fact him and Staal are great friends and had decided they both wanted to be in a better, up-and-coming market with better fans…………

  15. This is typical Buffalo, we get an amazing player at the tail end of their career. I've said it for years and I'll say it again, I'll bet good money Patrick Kane finally comes home to Buffalo when he's all used up and can't break 20 goals.

  16. As a Wild fan , Staal definitely better player. Still scored 19 goals in short season
