I could see him sliding out of the top 10 even. The reality of the political situation is that he may never be allowed to leave. He is Russia's top rising star in their national sport. How would it look for the Russian government if he bolts for the west at first chance in a society dominated by ultra nationalism?

Arizona Coyotes will draft Michkov. They are the one team that can wait three years for him to join the NHL.
It is Russia we are talking about. I mean they were always crazy in Russia, but now we are talking about different level of crazy. It is like different country. Imagine your population is brainwashed that NATO is invading your country and in TV they want to nuke this, nuke that everyday. War propaganda is everywhere and sport is no exception. Imagine Michkov becoming a star playing in KHL, imagine all the blackmailing, threats not just to him, but to everyone around him. I can´t imagine Michkov would come to play in the NHL, especially if he becomes popular in KHL. He might get drafted by Vagner PMC if he tries. I wouldn´t be surprised if he wants to get drafted just to increase his own value in KHL. If Montreal picks him then it will be probably just for a trade.

If this management group waste’s another top 5 pick on a middle potential Slovak I’m so done with this team… With guys like Leonard, Benson, Moore and especially Michkov on the board a pick spent on Dvorsky or Reinbacher is lunacy!
Mitchkov is the only player comparable to Bedard, possibly the best Russian prospect since Ovetchkin. Definitely worth the wait, please Kent bring us the Russian wizard! 🙏

Low Risk = Low Reward in life. If the Canadiens aren't willing to risk taking Michktov, who is a generational player, they will never win a Stanley Cup.
Id be so pissed if they dont take him, especially with Bobrov who knows him and has a good relationship with SKA.
There are concerns about centre because anyone who looks at PLD's analytics know he isnt a centre on a contender. His defensive game and transition game is too weak So even if you get him he doesnt solve the centre problems.
Don’t see him slipping past 6 if he’s there for the coyotes. They can afford the wait and the risk.
Canucks take him if he drops. They have lots of Russians.
If Michkov is available i pull the trigger on him if not, Benson or Moore at 5 imo
3 yrs in Russia is the minimum, could be longer and with very little surveillance again the talent and potential is interesting but do MTL really want to take that risk. No doubt he will be good when he comes. Question is, if and when?

Michkov is sooo talented but I think it’s a little risky because of his contract and also military service.. I feel like Smith and Carlsson will be taken by CBJ and SJ. The Habs will select Reinbacher or Benson, hopefully not Dvorsky
I’m not a Montreal fan, but as a hockey fan I think he’s risky. Nothing against the player, just think picking him is very risky. Also, if everyone is correct about mandatory military service… I say no

If there’s any NHL team that knows how to get Russians out of Russia, it’s the Detroit Red Wings. Detroit trades picks 9 and 41 (possibly 42) for pick 5 to get Michkov. Watch Yzerman run pockets at the draft.
Because they needed a center, they picked Kotkeniemi instead of Tkachuk and it bit them in the ass … take the best player available nonwithstanding the position … the Habs never got a super star since friggin Pierre Turgeon and a 50 goal scorer since Stephane Richer for God's sake … all in, man! … and if anything, pull a Statsny and get him outta Russia 😉

He's actually playing with men in a top professional league, there's no question mark with him.

After the top 5 the drop-off in quality is significant. If Michokov is there at 5, the habs will see the gap and will make the smart move and draft him. Benson and all the others following are not even close to Michkov.
We will pick Dvorsky and we will regret it like we regret KK and Slaf.
michkov will be the 2nd best player in this draft class
I feel like Montreal will go with a random pick like Gabe Perreault
The hawks will gladly take him at 19 or 20, since they're the team that can most afford to wait now

I want so badly to see a team sneak him out of a neutral country with his family as an Ex-pat a la Malkin from Finland.
The KHL is a very scary nightmare for young men with foreign ambitions, he and his family should defect if they wish and the NHL has in the past been a safe haven for that.
