No surprise, Willy seems like the only one who plays for the love of hockey itself. Should have known Matthews and Marner were interested in maxing out their bank accounts and not the amount of cups they could win. The fanbase gave them the benefit of the doubt cause of their regular season totals and they totally abused our trust in the playoffs.

I love Nylander man. I’ve always liked him but I found myself liking Matthews and Marner more at first. The past couple years has put Willy above Mitch for me and I might even have him over Auston now after these past playoffs. I hope he’s a Leaf for life

I’ll admit. I didn’t like Willy when he first joined the Leafs. He was lacking in so much that we needed and wanted and considering that he took so long to negotiate his contract (his father being so greedy and all!) I didn’t think his initial playing effort was worth what we paid for him. Not going in to dig pucks out, and hanging back way too often was one of my biggest dislikes.
But now???? This season he really showed his heart. His abilities. I gained a new found love and respect for him. He really turned shit around and I wish I could say the same for Matthews, Marner and Tavares, they started off good and then just proverbially shit the bed.
Why he didn’t get more ice time during the playoffs is beyond me. He should have gotten way more than he was given which is barely anything.
I wish him all the best on Team Sweden. He will do exceptionally well.
