They should build it like a big prepper bunker, fill it with food and water and leave the person under the ice for the entire season. “Bob, where have you been lately, feels like ages ago?!” -“I got a new job, finally, and have been under the ice since October.”
Guangping2
They should almost just make the goalie pads green so then you can just digitally remove the goalie and look
FumblinginIgnorance
The 5G goalie butthole camera, brought to you by Verizon.

Put cameras in the players sticks

Not wanting to take away the humor here, but had a serious question.
I was only half watching the game but wasn’t it disallowed due to goalie interference? I thought the question of it crossing the line was irrelevant?
ThrowAway072343
And, where do I sign up for this?!

Soccer has goal line technology. Can’t see why hockey cannot develop it one day.
GuyNamedPanduh
Can’t we just have a system like goal line tech in football (EPL) that automatically sends a signal to the ref when the ball (or course puck in this case) is fully over the line?
Completely eliminates these type of goal reviews and leaves nothing to question.

No one remembers the guys behind the nets in their little boxes?

Delete this tweet before GMs see it and offer below the ice seating for $500 a game. Between the virtual board ads and that this sport would be unwatchable.

I mean a sensor would also work

I mostly envision the NHL implementing the under water official goal judge in scuba gear, communicating via headset with Toronto.

Or have a special camera

Plexigas bottom with a with a camera inside.

Better yet a sensor that has the ability to tell when the puck crosses the plane of the goal line built into the net.

If tennis has Hawkeye, soccer has VAR, and football has the pylon cam as well as sky cams, the NHL can do something to see if we’ve got a goal.

Why stop there!! Make the entire rink transparent and sell seats underneath.
thprk
Make the inside of the net a big hole. If the puck falls down it’s a goal.
girhen
There are already two cameras in the crossbar, but add one (or two!) in each post.
Also, in addition to the one big camera in net, put one on each side of it that looks 45 degrees from the side. Or hell, make it six cameras on the swivel – three angled slightly up at straight, 45 left, and 45 right and three angled down at the same angles. They could even get rid of the swivel and just solid mount it. I bet that swivel cost as much as a couple more cameras.
Oshowcinco
Just use NHL 23s replay mode
whatisapillarman
Magnetic sensor bars on the pucks and lined all throughout the goal line. Whenever the puck crosses all the way a colored smoke bomb is blown up directly where the goal judge’s box used to be. Since the sensor cannot discriminate between active play or not, I am fully expecting it to scare the shit out of people during whistles.
hawksfan1081
Actually not a bad idea but how is it gonna happen
PRMan99
Or just put a chip in the puck that will tell you where it is at all times.
That way it’s trivial to know whether it was hit above 4 feet as well.
jimhabfan
It has nothing to do with the inability to see the puck. There was more than enough evidence to overturn the call on the ice. If that goal had been scored by Florida, or Vegas or Seattle, or any of the other teams trying to build a rabid fan base you can bet it would have counted.
It’s pretty simple, if your team has a massive throng of fans outside the arena watching a big screen and cheering, you’re not getting that call.
Sin_City_Symphony
There is a chip in the puck, put something similar on the goal line and review it on a computer to see if it fully goes over the line 🤷♂️.
jasonalloyd
This actually seems like a half decent idea. They could mount a camera or 2 under the ice if it was clear inside the net.
drumrhyno
If we have puck tracking technology already, why can’t they determine if it’s crossed the goal line without seeing it?
DayThen6150
Or a camera

You guys know theres cement an refrigerant pipes under the ice right. And that the ice is only 1/2-3/4″ thick?

Now, if only we could make transparent ice…
I love that idea.
