Canucks goaltending: should Thatcher Demko or Jacob Markstrom start game 6?

I’ve been saying that Thatcher Demko should definitely start in grade 6…especially if Jacob Markstrom is anything less than 100% healthy.

But even if Marky is fully healthy, would you start Demko in game 6 and have Marky ready for game 7 (a back to back)?

  1. Who should be the game 6 starter? And does Demko's strong performance (and potential) influence the team's negotiations with Markstrom on a new contract?

  2. i dont think Markstrom will be 100% tommorow so i would say start Demko Game 6 and if they win that game and Markstrom is 100% on Friday i think he should start Friday

  3. Imagine we force game 7 that would be crazy, what even more crazy is we beat Vegas 2 times in regulation but never in the regular season from 2 years

  4. Game 6: Start Demko (Even if Markstrom is 100%. We should start the hot goalie and maintain that momentum)
Game 7: Start Markstrom (Only if he is 100%. Better chance of winning by playing a well rested goalie)

Also Vegas doesn't know Demko's weaknesses since he barely played, and only let in 1 goal this series (The Theodore goal where he deked 4 Canucks players)

Btw I noticed your description says "grade 6" instead of "game 6" haha

  5. Well tbh I say it might be good or bad let’s see put in Demko for Game 6 tomorrow becuse remember when markstrom was healthy against the blue he let in like more goals not saying he is bad becuse is a legend but yeah

  6. The is it a question?
Demko deserves to play game 6 after a perfomance like that! And "if" the canucks all show up for game 6 and win with Demko! I say keep riding the hot hand and let him play his first game 7 and see how it go's! This could be Demkos coming out party as a #1

  7. If Markstrom is 100%, he should get the start in game 6. Looking ahead, do the Canucks want to sign a 30 year old goalie to a long term contract when Demko is waiting in the wings for his chance to be a starter? If Demko is transitioning to be a starter, he'll have to play more games, which means less starts for Marky. The Canucks will have to expose a goalie in the expansion draft and based on his performance last night, Demko probably turned a few GM heads including Ron Francis. If the Canucks protect Markstrom, I think Demko gets picked up. If Canucks protect Demko, does Seattle pick up Markstrom? Not sure about that one. If Seattle doesn't pick up Marky, we'll have a disgruntled goalie on our hands because he was exposed, and potentially not started in game 6.

  8. Throughout this series, pundits had been wondering who Vancouver's x-factor is to match Tuch as Vegas' x-factor. It's now Thatcher Demko. Vegas doesn't have a book on him. He's the guy for the rest of the series. 3 of the last 4 cup winning goaltenders have been rookie goalies.

  9. Should play Demko for the rest of this series. Why change goalie when he’s on a roll?

  10. It depends on Markstrom and how he feels —- I think you dance with the guy that brung 'ya —

  11. St Louis maybe taught us a lesson that the goalie that "deserves" the start isn't always the right choice. Allen was the obvious choice to us for the Blues to start, but they did what they were supposed to do and their season is over now. I would.say Markstrom is who we should start but just bc of that fact maybe we start Demko. Logic doesn't work so go against it.
