The Toronto Maple Leafs have officially been eliminated from the NHL Playoffs. After a controversial no goal call & a missed interference call on the Nick Cousins OT goal, Leaf fans feel bitter this morning. We break down the truth about the Toronto Maple Leafs vs the Florida Panthers & why the lack of adjustments & star power gave the Leafs the result that they deserved.

  1. I am not a Leafs fan, but officiating matters. The playoffs are tight games where one moment can completely change things. You shouldn't have to beat both bad officiating, and the other team, and then be dealt " got what you deserve", its not fair if the other team gets 3 or 4 big calls that they win off the back off, that just cant fly in any sport in the post season, let alone hockey.

  2. We didn't overly deserve it, but Keefe should've challenged that last goal (since Gudas was holding Rielly's stick), nothing to lose anyways

  3. We just need absolute assholes that can actually fight on the leafs, refs aren't calling anything so why not

  4. A little birdie told me that there is a rift amongst the Leafs players and it centers around John Tavares… his lackadaisical play and aloof personality does not endear himself to his teammates or the captaincy. Take it with a grain of salt

  5. Yes, the puck is over the line under Bob's skate…after the whistle blew. Also, it's funny that fans are bitching about the Gudas stick hold but not one Leaf, including the one whose stick was held (Jarnkrok), complained at all. Literally, ZERO indication that something might have been amiss. One of two things explains that: a) the perennial losers have zero desire to win, or b) it looked way worse than it was and had no effect on the play.

  6. What do you mean what they got they it's been late a long time since they have made the playoffs so why you saying that they got what they deserved

  7. Blaming the coaches is the dumbest thing anyone can really say, especially when it’s the players fault 100%! You can’t teach them or tell them what to do, they get their money no matter what.

If you want change, start with the fact that no one is there to defend the team or goalie. The hey get pushed around like little mice up against giants… that’s why I always say get Matt Martin back to defend. Get rid of nylander and Tavares and pick up some solid offenders players like domi or tychuk that can’t fight and actually move the puck… what’s a bunch of marners going to get you in the playoffs, a bunch of injured scared players or let down players that don’t watch each others backs in turn making it a 1 for all team

  8. The product sold wasn't to just to win one round. They have mad skill but it's the grit that makes all the small things come full circle. In Toronto, everything is magnified, superstars that can't be touched. The core 4 theory didn't work cause they were reward to do one job, that was score not win. Their def thou good enuf for regular season success couldn't defend of the pressure that the playoffs brings. 1 third of penalties are called from what u see in the regular season, so a heavy forecheck somewhat doesn't worked and players sometimes sell calls and get them them "soft calls," but not in the playoffs. This setup a good defense to fail, where scoring players are paid to score, so they stay in their position to allow their defense to defend for their self.

  9. This was the best thing that could have happened to the worst fan base. I feel bad for the leaf players who have to deal this fan base! They literally gave the Florida Panthers all the motivation and ammunition needed to destroy the Leafs. Anyone would be happy to have one of their top 4, but all I hear is whining, complaining and overconfident trash talking at the wrong times. I hope all your stars leave Toronto and get cups for American teams.

  10. Spot on analysis!!! I knew the leafs did NOT have the mental toughness to win a cup. The Florida Panthers do.

  11. I have watched Toronto for 40+ years. They are a built loser organization. They have consistently used a dump and chase philosophy of giving the puck away and trying to get it back. They DO NOT have a defensive mentality built around their defence being helped by the forwards. They traded a GOOD goalie (Campbell) did not use a proven one this year Murray and relied on a rookie. They were robbed by a Florida team that looked like they transitioned from road hockey to ice and grabbed sticks ran at the opponents and with a Russian goalie (60% of the league has them) who flops and blocks all shots with huge pads. Borje Salming had his stick been grabbed would have fallen to block the shot. The END (for them) Break this team up. And BTW a Coach who yells and GM should be shown the door. They are scamming the fans.

  12. The core is just garbage and their D was worse this season. Gotta rebuild now. And for the sake of the team, can we get a good goalie?

  13. They did and so will dirty florida who out dirtied Boston and piece of work screaming at will I hope he leaves on a stretcher

  14. marner is a child, tavaras is washed up, matthews simply does not care, and the euro is soft.

  15. The Leafs deserved to lose a game in which they scored more goals than the other team? Nice take

  16. Honestly, I don’t blame the Leafs fans for wanting Florida because let’s be honest before the playoffs started, did you really think Boston was not going to the final and most likely winning the cup? And considering Toronto’s record against Boston in the playoffs wanting to play Florida seemed to be the better choice but as usual hindsight is 2020 right?

  17. As a panther fan: YES YES HOLY YES WE DID IT. Ok for real though. The goal called back was done because Bob only got up after the whistle was blown and only when Bob got up did the puck cross the line.

  18. I never liked picking up Tavares, he's a no show in big games.

If the cap goes up they should be able to get rid of one of those monster contracts, not sure which one though?
