I hate this “don’t blame the officiating” false narrative that keeps getting jammed down our throats constantly. As if not calling penalties, influencing outcomes and creating controversy over the integrity of the officials and league itself is somehow good for the game. This game won’t grow and will keep losing its new fans until it calls penalties the to a standard all year long and sticks to it. Even baseball understands it’s needs to modernize and is slowly working towards a goal of making sure they don’t get any calls wrong. Hockey once was the most technologically advanced game with reviews and challenges, but has fallen behind as other leagues have adopted these things and the nhl continues to completely throw the rulebook out every year at playoff time so we can all watch a travesty made out of a beautiful game on the highest stage. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.
