I think the lou and lane show continues. Lou is looking closely at t o. If keefe goes he may look to replace lane with keefe. If dufus goes isles may want to add him to lous's staff. Maybe even as gm with lou moving upstairs to pres. And gil, with canes, fla, vgk, and stars/kraken winner left does this make car. the cup favorite with the way canes can shut teams down? And if canes win isles will have been ousted by cup champ their last three playoffs. My cup pick oil are gone now. Goaltending did oil in. Too bad oil didn't go hard after varly at tdl. Holland sunk too much $$$ into campbell to fail to add varly.
I don't want Kyle Dumbass. He's been with Leafs for for years and what has he built? A soft team that has won one playoff series in the 5+ years he's been there. Sorry, with all his analytics, he's not the NHL version of Theo Epstein. To some extent, I agree with Barzal. It's frustrating and nerve wracking to sneak in by one or two points each year. I think part of the problem this year is that the Isles were in playoff mode virtually for the last 2 months so how much physically and psychologically did they have left in the tank? Secondly, at no point this year did they ever play as well as they did for long stretches under Trotz. Now that could be coaching or too many players playing past their prime. Who knows. But I do think ownership and management owe us fans an explanation as to what the plan is to improve this team. We;ve gone through two years of regression and given the current roster, I can't see them even making the playoffs next year. Finally, RIP Gerry Hart. Along with Howatt, he added a lot of snarl to those early Islanders teams and even if they might be more talented, any opponent knew they were in for a tough game against the Islanders.
Morning Gil and guys, the only 2 reasons I can ownership keeping Lou and Lame would be that Lou said he can add youth for the team now/future and to not rock the boat. I said it before, I want no part of Dubas and we can add Okeefe to that list also. If Lou is retained and the ship stays the same or gets worse, once again the isles will be the laughing stock of the league. Good thing there’s not too many FA’s that the isles are gonna go after cuz Lou is too old skool and we all know what that means, he’s gotta loosen the reigns to attract future FA’s. Well if the team doesn’t get younger and faster and go back to a structured D, it’s gonna be a long season mentally for the fans. Great show Gil. RIP Gerry Hart.
