Canucks absolutely do this. All they’ve paid is trading their non-top10 1st down 8 spots and trading up their 3rd to a 4th.
It’s the Hawks that don’t. Trade 2 2nds, a 3rd, a non-UFA NHLer, take on $4.95×3, just to move up 12 picks? No way. They’ll get a full 1st rd pick and more for selling that space to someone else.
