It’s already noted. If the Habs wants a player who’s not one of those top five confirm players, we should trade down and gain assets with the value of the 5 overall. We could trade for the 8 of Washington and they can add next years first and more this is just an example
Have you heard any rumors about wether Arizona or Detroit would be interested in selecting Mitchkov at #5? I think those two teams could offer a better deal than Washington.
Finally someone else who is open minded and not just blindly buying into the hype of Michkov and draft rankings. Despite his undeniable talent, he comes with too much risk and uncertainty imo, having to wait for a player you can't scout for development and not knowing exactly when he'll be available to come over to the NHL. We all know Hughes and MSL have strong ties and keep a watch with US prospects. So if either Carlsson or Smith are no longer available at 5, Ryan Leonard would be a perfect fit for the Habs young core. It's obvious the new management's direction is trying to make the Habs bigger after drafting Slaf 1st overall last year and acquiring guys with size.
What I like with Leonard's profile is that he is the kind of player that we coud need in playoffs. Maybe not groundbreaking talent but could be a problem for the opposite team. Look at Anderson in Mtl, he is never the best on the ice but it is always awesome to see him hit, drive the net and terrorize the front of the net. Also, the way he uses his size is a bit what Mtl seemed to be looking for when they drafted Slaf to complement Suzuki and Caufield
If Montreal drafts for needs at 5th, therefore, it should be either either Leonard, Dvorsky or Reinbacher. However, if they go for the best player available, then they have to draft Michkov, only if they can determine that it is possible to bring him over within 3 years…!!!

honestly i like it, Ryan reminds me of Mathew Tkachuk. That grit and hard driving play is exactly what we need.
if you like leonard. trade down. ugh. get assets
One thing we are missing is a game breaking talent so we need to pick the bpa. Don’t over think it

I feel like Benson and Leonard are often talked about. Leonard is pretty much everything we wanted Anderson to be.
