Michkov should be well worth the fifth pick. Even if he takes three years to come over, Smith, Benson, Reinbacher – any of these guys are likely two years away. Most people say 3 years but it could realistically be 5 years as Russian teams often sit a kid who wants to leave until he signs for 2 more years. I think that’s what happened with Kaprizov. You want to leave for the NHL? Alright, we’re gonna make you waste a year of development. See what it does to your career… Or maybe you could stay 2 more years?
