  1. Sorry your team lost but the better Canadian team won tonight and no one can deny that. My Knights won because they continuously roll 4 lines (because they have the talent to do that) and they have the most canadians on the roster of the remaining teams in the playoffs (15).

Also if you go back and watch the replay of the first goal, Skinner is kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place but his dmen have to be vocal and help him out. (What most of you fans dont realize is that w/e teammate is coming to pick up that puck needs to let the goalie know what they want if they dont then your kinda stuck as the goalie making that call). Also the puck goes into the slot because of a decision by Ekholm to back hand that puck into the middle of the ice (which you have literally drilled into your head at the age of 6 to never do). Yes Skinner makes a poor read and doesnt T-push out off the post to cut off that angle but the dman and the team not giving him support on that board battle also are the reasons for that first goal.

  2. It takes all 5 guys to play in the defensive zone. All 5 need to engage in the defensive zone. Vegas does this & Edmonton does not. That was the big difference of this series.

  3. You can’t win a cup if you can’t score regularly 5/5 ,,, plus the Oilers D and G are not good enough,,, Oilers couldn’t beat a team with 2 very normal goalies, imagine if they had their #1 goalie was there ,,, Bouchard gets a raise that means you can’t put more $ on your D,,, PS if McDavid gets 17 millions next contract Edmonton will never win a cup,, ,,, you won’t have the Avs getting injuries in the whole roster next year they will be adding,,,

  4. Okay, as someone who has not personally viewed VGK as Underdogs, I think the reasons is that in this series major media excessively picked Edmonton. Pro Oilers media in general made Knights the underdogs even tho they were the higher seed.

  5. Guys defending Nurse and Bouchard defencewise and blaming their pairings is so FUNNY😄

  6. Statistics for Edmonton Oilers at Vegas Golden Knights May 14th, 2023

Game 6 Second Round Oilers 2, VGK 5

Series Ends with Vegas 4, Oilers 2, Vegas advances to the third round

    McDavid 1 Goal

    Foegele 1 Goal

    Kulak 1 Primary Assist

    Ryan 1 Primary Assist

    Kane 1 Secondary Assist

    McLeod 1 Secondary Assist

Skinner 13 / 17 .765 Save %age (he was NOT good and got pulled after 40, should have been 20)

Campbell 4 / 4 1.000 Save %age (only had to stop 4 in the final 20 but he did).

Three Stars (Sportsnet): Marchessault, Hill, Foegele on Sportsnet

    VGK Oilers

    Shots on Goal 22 40

    Hits 22 45

    Faceoffs Won 28 28

    Power Play 0/2 0/1

    Giveaways 10 18

    Takeaways 7 7

    Blocked Shots 28 14

The above stats show a lot. Oilers peppered Hill and he held pretty firm. They more than doubled the hits, the faceoffs were the same, only one PP for the Oilers (killed) and 2 for Vegas (also killed). Oilers had nearly double the number of giveaways, same number of takeaways and exactly half the blocked shots. Not nearly enough blocks.

Sixth Game. Do or Die for the Oilers. They died. Goaltending through the middle 20 of the game was bad with Stu letting in 3 (all by Marchessault so he got a hattie). Campbell came in on relief for the final 20 and, while he only faced 4 shots, he took care of all of them. The Oilers weren't blocking nearly enough shots allowing for the more advanced stats. Ignorning that Hill had a great game backstopping the VGK. When the boys got chances he took care of them. I was unable to watch this game so just going off of stats and whatever I could see by replays.

First, this wasn't a disaster. The Oilers made it to the 2nd round (or further) 2 years in a row. We faced great teams getting there. Time to tweak and adjust. Bouchard is legit. Skinner if okay too but you can't play him night in night out. He's not that type of goalie. He's a tandem. He had many good to great games. He had some stinkers too. It happens, maybe cutting him some slack in his first full year in the NHL might be in order.

Oilers fans, this is the first year in the window. The window remains open. An adjustment here, a tweak here, it will be fine. Have faith. Take care all.

  7. Main reason the Oilers lost is because they rely on their power play waaaay to much. 40% of goals scored this playoff run came from a power play. Can't win a cup like that lol.

  8. How about this as a compromise? you plug your (alphabet ad) in the middle of the podcast. That way you don't suck all the air out of the room right at the start of every podcast

  9. Enjoyed the analysis. Only comment would be to realistic about options. Oilers can't give Bouchard whatever he wants, and upgrade Ceci, and upgrade the goaltending, and have flexibility for raises for CM/LD when that times comes. Oilers NEED to have young guys who can step up and fill roles cheaply.

  10. Haha thanks for the shutout Zach! Yes, I did watch this eventually…needed some time to decompress first.

  11. I found it very telling once Coach Karen (Woodcroft) started hiding McDavid from Will Karlsson's line. That was a signal that Vegas had the better coach and game plan.

  12. The high stick on Ekholm was a follow-through, which is a no-call. Ekholm stick-checked the vegas player with the puck and was partially responsible for the high stick.

  13. As a Vegas fan but a lover of this amazing sport, relying on just McDavid and Draisaitl was the killing blow, in Vegas anyone can score which is the advantage either way Hell of a series !! 🤙🏽

  14. Nobody slighted Vegas???? ESPN had 23 of 27 staffers pick Edmonton and endlessly talked about 97, 29 and how good the power play is. Virtually none of the US coverage (ESPN and TNT) picked Vegas.

  15. Let just said the team building experience with the Centre Line as the main focus of your team failed. Ask the Edmonton Oilers (best Center Line in the league) and Toronto Maple Leafs (2nd Best Center Line in the league. You need a balanced team (i.e. Good Offense , Good Defense and Great Goalie with alot of depth to win a Stanley Cup.

You need players that bring you to the playoff and others that pull you trought the playoff.
