Alex DeBrincat could be traded around the time of the 2023 NHL entry draft! Debrincat needs to sign an extension but he has shown no interest in signing one. The Senators could be traded him and a prime candidate are the Detroit Red Wings! Red Wings GM has said that the Red Wings need to score more goals and that is exactly what DeBrincat is good at.

Unless the package involves Lucas Raymond, the Sens will definitely NOT trade Debrincat to a division rival in Detroit. Not a chance. If there is a Debrincat trade, I cant see a better team for this trade than the Winnipeg Jets, cause the Sens Desperately need a Pierre-Luc Dubois for the second line. He's a very solid 200-ft player that can play the wing and can produce, something that line lacked BADLY. I would much rather see a Dubois-Norris-Batherson line over a Debrincat-Norris-Batherson line for two simple reasons. All 3 players are shoot-first mentality and none of them are solid 200-ft players. On top of that Debrincat can NOT take over the center position should Norris or Stutzle get injured. Dubois can easily slot right in. The Sens need to be harder to play against, and produce more 5 on 5, and to do that you need 200-ft players who can get the puck moving and not stay hemmed in your own end, which the second line was bad for last season. Another option is if the Sens want to really bolster the blue line, I can see a Debrincat trade to St.Louis involving Parayko (if he will waive his NTC). If the Sens think that Ridly Grieg would be a better fit with Norris and Batherson, that is another very solid option, and gives the Sens options what to do with Brannstrom. Brannstrom actually has value (finally) and can be moved, and we would see a defense core of:
Chabot – Parayko
Sanderson – Hamonic
Chychrun – Zub
If they don't re-sign Hamonic, plug in Kleven.
