  1. The Baffalo Eichel: all himself in highlights didn't even interact with his teammates;
The VGK Jack: Bruins might regret not trading for him

  2. Really glad to see Eichel thriving with Vegas this year. I love this group we've got this year. I really hope they can go all the way!

Thanks for an awesome series Oilers! Y'all had me nervous down to the last second lol

  3. I posted on the Athletic early on that the VGK would win if they could be average on the PP and beat the Oilers at 5v5. I am no "expert" by far, but you could actually see this coming. And for everything that McD and Drai did, McD ended the series with a -1 rating. Also by the end of the Kings series McD and Drai had played an entire game more than the VGK forwards. By game 5 vs. the VGK it was the same thing, they averaged about 4 minutes more than each VGK forward, and by the end McD and Drai averaged about 22+ minutes while the VGK forwards averages just over 18. McD and Drai looked tired in the 3rd period of game 5 and by the 2nd of game 6. They were still great but the defensive breakdowns by Edmonton by the mid 2nd in a couple of cases looked like fatigue and lack of focus. We already knew Edmonton's D was horrible and below average goaltending, and well, here we are.

  4. I knew something was up with start time delay. At least it was sports programming – could have been the spelling bee or a rerun of the Good ole Bboy 1700 midget car racing from 1978. Rogers must feel emasculated.

  5. Dammit, the last interesting team is out.

This sucks. And these playoffs had such promise.
Sucks for Shannon too as the views will drop off.

  6. Darnell NURSE was behind the net on the OPPOSITE side ( his position ) for the KNIGHTS winning Goal !!!! wake up Oilers !!!!!!! A SLUG !

  7. Edmonton felt a lot like the Canucks under Bruce Boudreau. Very run-and-gun, outscore-your-problems style. It was exactly that STYLE that led to the Canucks highest-ever SCORING season in the modern era.. I had to go back to the 90s to find anything close. YET, the Canucks ended up in the trash bin, because we were letting in 5 goals a night too… and we weren't scoring enough for that. But, throw in a capable defensive structure, and play a tighter game, you have a way better chance on a regular basis. BUT, all that said… they should've played Campbell. Skinner just did not look capable..

  8. Well, I guess those "generational talents" can't always win a cup…They do take up a massive amount of cap space though.

  9. So you’re telling me that goaltending and defense is still a problem for the Oilers? Shocking…. Sometimes you can’t rely on the power play to win hockey games, especially in the playoffs. I have two questions: #1 Is Skinner the future #1 moving forward? #2. What happened to the depth of this team? Stop wasting Mcdavid and Draisaitl’s career!

  10. It's insane that the knights have made their 4th conference final in only 6 years of existence, and have a very strong possibility of going to their second cup in that same span. Has there been a better team in the league other than tampa bay in that time frame? I know not in the west.

  11. The Oilers got hit by the Gretzky-Fuhr curse. In 1981-1982 Gretzky got 92 goals. Fuhr was a rookie goalie. In 1981 The Oilers barely made the playoffs, but this year, the Panthers barely made the playoffs, and they’re still in! The Oilers coming out party was a Three game sweep of the 3rd place Canadiens. In 82 they hosted the Kings, Game four the Oilers led 5-0, and were outscored 5-0 in the third and promptly lost in OT. They went to Edmonton and lost the series. This is part one.

    Part Two.
McDavid gets a career high in points this season. Anyone remember when Gretzky did that?
    1985-1986. 215 points.
    Second Round.
The Flames are able to hold Gretzky from going wild until it’s game four.
By then it’s 2-2. Flames win game five, Oilers win game six.
Steve Smith tries to clear a Perry Berezan dump in, while being forechecked by Lanny.
It hits the back of Fuhr’s ankle and bounces into the Oilers net.
Flames hold the Oilers off the net, avoiding an own goal of their own through the last 15 minutes.
Skinner Rookie goalie, Fuhr Rookie Goalie. McDavid career high, Gretzky’s league leading marks. OILERS CURSE!!!

  12. Looking forward to the Edmonton season/playoff recap. I’m sure you’ve got plenty to say about the Oilers.

  13. Why Edmonton let that Skinner kid play is beyond all of us in Vegas. I was thinking there's no way Skinner is playing and boom there he is again. I'm glad, but what is Woody thinking up there?

  14. ESPN is a such a joke. I think the only person that actually cares about the sport at that network is Emily Kaplan.

  15. I think the rivalry between mcDavid and eichel is kinda forced by the broadcasts and all that because you got two guys who are good and one that is arguably better but especially when eichel was in buffalo this “rivalry” was kinda nonexistent until this year makes me feel like it’s just a selling point for jerseys and what not. In my eyes there really is no bad blood in between the two and if there is I don’t think mcDavid really cares about eichel to much in the sense he is just another player out there.

  16. Go Knights! Great win over a great team! On to the west finals! The pool is warmed up, I'm ready to do some cannonballs for every goal!😂😂

  17. PLEASE GET RID OF DARNELL NURSE. HOW THE FUCK DOES HES GET PAID SO MUCH?????? WORST TOP DEFENSMEN IN THE LEAGUES HANDS DOWN. GET HIM OFF THIS TEAM

  18. surely there was only 3 penalties committed in this game good fucking lord this league is so hard to watch. Refs were actually calling less penaltys on us because they were scared it would change the game in our favour so much.

  19. This was a good series. Since it started ive thought whoever won would end up with the cup. I think Vegas gets it this year

  20. ESPN has some very good NHL play by play and analysts. Why in the world they would assign a studio anchor and inexperienced analyst to this important game is ridiculous. Their coverage was horrible.

  21. Well, there’s over 300 million more of us than Canadians so, it kinda makes sense even if less of us are watching to kind of cater to the American audience, although it definitely seems by the 10pm start that that’s not what ESPN was doing.

  22. It’s weird that Ken Holland had Lidstrom for years and still doesn’t understand the importance of defense on his rosters.

  23. i work seasonal and live in new brunswick. if i was not laid off all winter i wouldnt of been able to watch a single oilers game. i watched every game this season. and i'm not watching hockey again, this was my first year getting into it in 15+ years. bet 365 lol the ads are just insane now. officiating is weak (coaches challenge should apply to any play on the ice) something needs to be done. i'm just going to watch olympic/juniors again. rip nhl

  24. with as much video review etc can be done, i dont know why refs have ultimate power to call penalty's etc. they have proven they are blind 95% of the time. they should only have authority to kill the play with whistle or something. there are many things the nhl can do to improve.. just not sure they are interested

  25. Yea as an east coast fan if your game starts at 9 eastern or later on a work day I'm not watching and getting up at 4am for work. Super annoying that on a stand alone game night that the game would start so late

  26. I'm still wondering where the Esquire of Sports went – he was so vocal and threatening on these boards only one game ago.
