So many just plain false and ridiculous takes by people just out of hurt or hate… 'he's an achor' 'a bum' 'miserable downward fall in his play''worst contract in the league' lol!! It IS possible to think and see both sides and be rational. Leafs deserved to lose again absolutely, and as captain deserves lots of blame of course, and yes although he's point per gm his whole career he is still overpaid, nor what the leafs needed most when they signed him, nor is he what they need as a leader in terms of being vocal/aggressive/physical (but none of their 'leaders' are). Yet he is STILL easily one of the most consistent, most producing, humble and hard working players in the entire NHL for his entire career so far, with and without the puck, strength on the puck, board play, shot, vision, play in front of the net, faceoffs, points, play style, work ethic, attitude, and he's very highly respected around the league for these very reasons to this day. If Dubas got resigned and asked him to take a pay cut I could see him doing it the same day, and still dominate all of the above next season. That's the type of leader in nearly every facet, and the true value he is to this team.

Yeah this guy is the leafs biggest mistake. Huge regret in signing him. He’s steadily falling off as a player. I barely saw him during the entire playoffs because nothing he did was good enough. Especially round two. It’s sad bc I like him, but that 11m contract is brutal.

LMFAO Leafs fans think offloading JT's contract is going to be easy.. NO TEAM will take that dump of a contract, I can pinky promise you guys. The only way that happens would be a huge package deal, and he, and another one of your stars, and or up and coming stars like Knies will be gone. Nobody will single handedly take JT 1 for 1 on a trade, trust me.
