My final look at some potential offseason targets for the Blue Jackets through the lens of my proposed CBJ forward roster structure.
If there are any forwards that anyone wants a public analytics deep-dive in, I’m happy to do a write-up!
Next, I’ll look into what CBJ should look for on defense.

I’d think a big center like Carlsson who can block a ton of goalie vision, box out D, and be a prime target for Laine slapshot redirects.

We definitely don’t need to bring in any more wingers. Laine will have to work with one of Johnny, KJ, or Marchenko. I don’t see our top 6 wingers changing from those 4.
Not to mention Tex and Chinakhov

Great article as always. Nylander is a hot take, but the star power. Laine. Nylander. Gaudreau. Wow.

Theoretically Laine in the middle with Johnny should be fantastic. Johnny in Calgary was much more effective in all areas of the game. I would put Tex on the right side. Johnny is elite in the neutral zone, he will enhance Patty’s entry and exit numbers and just those two will create a ton in transition. Put Tex on the right side to be that straight ahead, hardworking, good forechecker, who can also create space with puck protection, skills, and speed.

Why are we “unlocking Laine” when he had 52 points in 55 games? He was almost a point per game player.
He has openly admitted he’s going to change up his conditioning to help his injuries, what else do you want from him?
