  1. My father worked for the Molson companies. He was the director of risk management and one of his key responsibilities was to negotiate insurance contracts for the Montreal Canadiens players. He would deal with the insurance underwriters on a case-by-case basis. Those contracts can be incredibly complicated. One of the issues is many hockey players take a lot of risks in the offseason, things like mountain climbing and skydiving and riding motorcycles for example. The folks responsible for setting up those contracts have to be very careful. They have to be cognizant of the habits of the players who are more reckless than others. Canucks fans will sadly remember the case of Luc Bourdon as a great example. RIP

  2. That sucks for petey but gives him more time for training and such it’s too bad he had insurance issues I was hoping that the insurance stuff would go through for him

  3. If petey wanted to go, then that is disappointing for him. I'm indifferent as to whether he goes or not.

  4. Better be safe than sorry, he can also now fully focus on off season training. Rather than having to focus in on a tournament setting.

  5. The story over here in Sweden i that the Swedish hockey federation is ready to pay the insurance for this current contract but not for a future hypathetical contract that doesn’t exist.
