Bennett takes down Knies – Have your say!

Sam Bennett gets tangled up with Matthew Knies, so he slams him down on the ice. No penalty was called on the play. Tough Call will be reviewing the incident. Have your say!

  1. Honestly- the body slam is whatever really- The worst part of this was the punch to the jaw and head to the glass.. you can see in the 3rd view. That was a dirtbag move

  2. The only dirty part was the forearm smack when they went in, people saying he "grabbed him by the neck in a full clinch and slammed him" are just hilarious 😂

  3. Leafs fan with an unpopular opinion but the league got it right here. It’s a missed roughing penalty at best. A $5k fine puts him on the books with the league for any future infractions.

  4. This is called a Choke Slam in wrestling circles. No place in hockey for this. He should have been charged with Criminal assault aka Todd Bertucci. BUT Someone on the Leaf team, should have jumped in. Watch out tomorrow night! The referees have opened the door for an all brawl. Frankly, I would be dissapointed with Leafs for anything less. Certainly Mr. Bennet is wearing a bulls eye

  5. And no suspension. How can that be? Maybe because wrestling maneuvers are not in the NHL rules. They should be. That Bennett is a wild animal and should be kicked out of the NHL and but into an animal cage.

  6. An absolutely brutal and sadistic thing for Bennett to do to the unsuspecting 20-year-old Knies. He had him in a headlock and slammed his head right into the ice ! This resulted in a concussion for Knies – but no penalty for Bennett ?

  7. Why There is no call i would say its knies that tries to hit bennett, misstimes it, bennett might fall intentionally, but i cant see any movement on his right arm trying to slam his head.

  8. As a nuetral fan, the initial hit/tie up is SOMEWHAT ok (that’s debatable, to me it literally looked like he was targeting his head but hard to say) but the sneaky punch to the back of the head alot of you are clearly not seeing and then the the way he threw him down to the ice after is as black and white as it gets and is extremely dirty

  9. Every year leafs leafs get beat in goal. Perry on no response. Last year against tampa. So if the panthers want to knock out players then you know where to go to hitem hard

  10. At 0:17 you can see Bennett duck out of the way and throw a huge right hand punch to the head. Possibly with his stick shaft too. That’s where the concussion is from. 3 games.

  11. The NHL is becoming lawless, players committing assault’s, with impunity, it’s not right, two guys willfully fighting is one thing but being cross checked in the neck or mugged from behind, slashed in the head is another. Maybe jail time not ice time.

  12. I like Bennet. He's smart enough to figure the refs out to guage how nasty he can get and still manages to be less dirty than Kadri and Wilson.

  13. Was this a Rodeo or a hockey game? That's a pathetic non hockey play. Short of UFC or WWE that takedown isn't legal anywhere and looks like intent to injure. $5,000.00 fine? Seriously? Bunting got 3 games for taking out Cernak and it was an actual hockey play.

  14. A guy literally got his neck broken this post season and it wasn't even a penalty. That's really all you need to know about the joke that player safety and the refs are in the nhl.

  15. It’s crafty for sure. “Could be construed as: wasn’t punching him in the back of the head, just trying to get separation, with force opposite of the entanglement. wouldn’t have clothesline slammed him if he wasn’t tangled up with him at the arms and knees”
That being said I think Bennett saw Knies tangled him up well on the pass-by, and definitely tried to hurt him there. He has a rep for being vicious in the playoffs and attempting to injure with hits from behind etc. he got away w this one for sure

  16. I seriously don't understand the "slammed his head into the ice" narrative. Thats objectively not what happened. If you watch without Leafs Goggles on, you'll two players battle, get tangled up, and yes Bennet does pull Knies down to the ice with him as he falls. But i definitely don't see him slam his head into the ice.

  17. 2 players got tied up and fell to the ice. No call in my opinion, injury does not equal penalty

  18. He punches him, and practically clotheslines him with his stick, the puck was already dumped past Knies, and then he body slams him to the ground and lands on him. There was definitely intent to injure and the fact that there wasn’t an interference or roughing call on the play is laughable.

  19. As a neutral fan this is at least the rest of the series for Bennett. This has no business being in hockey. The NHL is waiting until someone looses their life is such a move? smh

  20. All I can say is it must be tough for Bennett being 26 and bald. A lot of frustration that he takes out on other people, what a loser.

  21. How is it tough call. He reached for Knies’ throat and choke slammed the kid. Should have been done for the series then and there.
