Sorry have to mention this…

Watching game 7 last night and watching this rookie just made me mad at Laf and Kakko.

Kid is 20
Plays on the 3rd line
Has established Star players with big contracts above him…. Sound familiar?

He was taken 23rd. Not first or second. He is scoring the series clinching goal in a series he was “suffering” a scoring drought. His stats are about Kakko’s now but with a significantly more goals. The playoffs number difference is embarrassing with them being basically tied points wise but with Kakko playing in over double the playoff games. I will not even bother doing this comparison for Laf.

I’m sorry but this kid is more or less as a rookie in the same spot as Kakko and Laf have been in for years now and he is putting up the numbers they are not. At some point production in terms of goals matters if you are a top pick in the draft as a forward.

It’s time to really take a hard look at these two. They have some value now, but another year playing at this level and they will be some throw away change of scenery trade at best. The excuses for these two have to stop. The idea they are some unbelievable assets you wouldn’t trade for anything needs to stop. So far they are just two run of the mill 3rd liners who people keep making excuses for. Here is exhibit A of a young guy, on a third line, with star players above him, and still producing…… time for these two to do the same or get shipped out

Shipped out for what bruh? Not sure much we can do.

If they’re “two run of the mill third liners” like you say, what is the value in trading them? Why would a team give up something valuable for them?

you didn’t see buffalo begging to send out dahlin when it wasn’t going as planned and now look at him

I like how you casually leave out he’s playing on a line with Jamie Benn, it’s close not to the same situation.

These kids are 21 and 22, what would you have done with Zibanejad at this age? Look at what he produces now, Jesus Christ give these kids time to develop.

    Lundqvist was picked 205th overall.

    *shrug*

Draft pick pedigree doesn’t equate to guaranteed success. This is how it goes. There are so many variables at play here. Just so happens these guys need time and need to be put in the right positions to succeed.

That being said, it is def disappointing they haven’t had the impact we all expected. But they’re young and the skill is there, we see it. That’s what makes me more patient with them. They haven’t been put in positions to succeed, through fault of the coach/ FO and just the circumstances of veterans on the team. They need consistent top line mins and responsibilities.

IMO they should be our top RW’ers next year, not Kane or Vlad. Laf has got to figure it out over there

What is your opinion of Chytil now and what was it when he was 20?
