Man I miss the Pavs, Patty and Jumbo days. I took for granted going to the playoffs every year. Feels like a huge mess still.
These are the positives that I see from this trade.
1. SJS aren't going to overpay Meier and give him a NMC.
2. SJS should lose a few more games to help the tank for Bedard.
3. Mukhamadullin sounds like he will be our second best defensman next year.
4. Hopefully Okhotiuk can be a stable bottom pairing DFD who will be able to clear the crease for once and remind us of crank shaft from time to time.
5. From what I can tell Zetterlund is the most missed piece of the trade from the NJD fans. He seems like a guy who actually likes to skate for a living with no Tinkerbell in his game.
6. Hopefully Johnsson can be re-signed for cheap and traded down the road for a 2nd or 3rd. Maybe if given a top 6 role he could increase his value to a 1st in a year or two.
7. Hopefully the SJS trade the late 1st rd for 2nd rd and 3rd rd picks. SJS is the worst team when drafting in the late 1st rd(20th+) and actually have more success drafting in the later rounds.
8. Last but no least, hopefully that 7th rd pick becomes the next Pavelski.
Really fun show Boys so thank you. I am jinxed. I cannot seem to catch the show live for the life of me! I will be watching like a hawk this week for the next live show.
I still think the Sharks are going to work hard to create a package of picks to move up soon. If we lose the lottery this year or in the subsequent years. We probably would not be able to move up to number 1 over all but, if we have say the number 4 or 5 AND put in a handful of other picks from this year or next year we might be able to swing number 2 or 3 if we see a guy we really want like this years deep draft.
I would be surprised if we actually retain all the accumulated picks.
As for Coluture trade potential I completely agree with you guys. I think part of creating a "player friendly" reputation in the league (which I think we currently enjoy?) is about doing right by the players in so much as we are able. We can't accommodation every whim but, for good soldiers like Couture, Pavelski, Jumbo and Burnzie if you can make a deal to get those warriors to a contender so they have a decent chance to make a run at a cup that is a fine thing to do.
I also feel like Couture has never gotten the credit he deserves by the media or Team Canada. He is a Swiss army knife. He plays well in every situation AND he is a proven clutch play off scorer time and time again. Yes, his contract is prohibitive but, salary retention might make him a prized acquisition for a contender.
I would also add that players who are likely trade targets for this deadline would be mostly the guys named tonight: Bonino, Reimer (though, he has not been as sharp over the last little while), Sturm, Lebanc, Karlson (if they can work out salary retention in 3 way I think a lot of contenders would love to have him right now).
Take care guys and I will endeavor to catch the next one live!

This trade is great for the sharks. Timo wasn't resigning, jersey basically took a rental for a solid defenseman, a 1st maybe 2 likely one, a middle bottom 6 guy, a likely bottom 6 guy, and a potential middle bottom 6 defender. Again.. basically for a rental..
Sorry for invading your chat guys but I'm a devil's fan. I just wanted to know what the take of the sharks fans was and by the way I am going to miss Fabian zetterland
Devils fan here. Shakir has potential to be a good player. Shark fans are going to LOVE Zetterlund. Kids a gamer. He's the only guy I was really sad we lost but you have to give up to get. Nikita Okhotyuk is a steady TOUGH d-man who will hit and fight and is actually decent in the O-zone. Will be a good 3rd pairing guy for sure. Johnsson stinks and will be gone after this year but Devils had to clear the cap space.
Nice to hear a coherent, facts focused podcast podcast. I am a Devils fan and our podcasts are not up to your level. Except when they have guests like people from Hockey Writers. So basically, when the hosts don't speak
