I am tired of these puff pieces on who the next coach will be. It doesn’t matter. We don’t have a top 6 RW on the roster next year. Kakko isn’t the answer. We have no 4th line to speak of as of today. And we have 11 million to sign 2 x LW’s, 3 x RW’s, 2 x LD, and a back up goalie who wont start the season 0-8.
I don’t care who the next coach is. We won’t hire the right guy…plain and simple. We never have and you want proof just look at who eliminated us this year. Paul Murice was available the same time Gallant was hired by us. Character people like him don’t come around too often, but no we went with the big name guy who took Vegas to finals and lost. Who hasn’t held a coaching job longer then 3 years. And the chants to shit can Murice would have been echoing in the Garden when the team was out of the playoffs a month before it started.
This roster makeup and the contracts associated to it have severe flaws. It is not all on Drury, but the recent TDL deals and drafts have been. How at this point do we still not have a prospect or solid Free agent RW on this roster for our top 6? We don’t have someone growing at the AHL level to fill that position. And every attempt at the TDL walks away over the summer and we are left holding air minus a few picks.

The roster/players failure this post season is on Drury, and Gallant was just the easy fall guy. Do you think Ruff if he was our coach this season and Gallant was the devils’ coach wins that series for us? It is well documented that the home team in the NHL playoffs really doesn’t have that much of advantage. Could Gallant have matchup’d better against the devils on home ice….sure but that isn’t why we lost.

Leach would be a quality hire. Strong coaching record everywhere he’s been. He was on my list
