The Maple Leafs have signed goaltender Aaron Dell to a one year 800,000 contract!

    The Leafs will offer and Negotiate a Contract with Freddy, at some point , if those negotiations do not go well. They can trade Freddy and have Dell ready to be called up. The Leafs should not let Freddy walk for nothing.

    Remember Andersso is a free agent next year. How many other free agent goalies are going to be available next year ?

    It's a solid depth move. We needed someone like this in case of emergency. Anyone who thinks this means a deal is coming for Freddy or Campbell is an idiot.

    They could trade Anderson away so they could get that defenseman they wanted Dougie Hamilton and then look at the leafs blue line then Riley Hamilton then jake m and tj Brody then have your last line in being zack b and Mico l or Travis Dermott one of the to think about that puls you have dell who can play the top line because he has that experience think about it thats all i ask

    LOL too funny! Leaf goalies absolutely suck. This team needed better than this. But that’s what you get when you put all your money in your soft assed floater forwards who don’t block shots or body check.

    People over react, if Andersen hasn’t been traded by now he won’t be unless leafs have a deal in place for another goalie.

    Good reporting. He's the Anderson gets a concussion or Campbell breaks a leg guy…and nothing more than that. Look Dubas's tenure with the Leaf's (to me) has one big huge f'up, namely cutting loose the solid-steady-reliable Curtis M to make room for Garrett Sparks who was out of AHL options. Backing up Andersen, Sparks in 2018 and Hutchinson in 2019 were so awful they literally cost the Leafs 2nd place. Dubas is belt and suspendering this year.

    You have to take into consideration that with Kasimir Kaskisuo leaving the Leafts didn't have n experience NHL goalie to fill in as backup if Andersen or Campbell were to get injured. Joseph Woll and Ian Scott are still to young and inexperienced for that role.

    I think the signing was to push JC and freddy to create competition in net to say the 2 best are the ones who playing but more for the backup role witch will challenge freddy to play at his best as well i like it great signing if thats what its for

    I actually never thought Dell was that bad, obviously he shouldn't be your number one or anything but San Jose's defense was an outright disaster, hard to look anything but bad behind that.

    Good way to make sure that 1 of our back up goalies play descent. When we depended on back ups that were supposed to get the job done before like Sparks, Hutchinson, it back fired on the leafs this way it also adds competition and if Soup doesn't play well for some reason or if injury, Dell has the experience and confidence to jump in and contribute to this team hopefully!

    Bit surprised at this signing. Dell will force Campbell to stay sharp, and not get fat as the back up. Marlies need a goalie, but surprised it;s Dell. Obviously Dell did not get tons of offers from other teams. Decent goalie. He lost his confidence playing behind a brutal San Jose d core. Maybe he can get his confidence back with a bit less pressure. Good depth move.

    Nobody pays more to play in the AHL than the Marlies. If you're going to be an AHL player you might as well get paid.

    I like the signing small plus Freddie’s last year maybe because I don’t think we have the cap what he’s going to want Aaron dell will be a backup and jack Campbell will be our starting goaltender in the future
