I can definitely see Matthews as a Hawk. The Leafs know he's not gonna re-sign. Might as well move him now and get something in return rather than watch him walk away for nothing at end of season.

No,we need to build a great farm system. Plus we will need cap money for are stars. The leafs won't let him walk even if he's headed for a UFA.
I'd much prefer Draisaitl in 2026 as a free agent over Matthews. In regards to Korchinski, he needs a lot more development in juniors. His defensive game needs work. It typically takes defensemen a lot longer to develop than forwards. For example, Duncan Keith was a full time NHL player 4 years after he was drafted. He was 23 his rookie year. Lets not rush Korchinski. We don't want to ruin him like Boqvist and Forsling. There is no rush. Its super early in the rebuild. How many 19 year old defenseman are there in the NHL?
The Hawks are going to rebuild the right way and it is not time to sign anyone with a big cap hit. Why have a superstar when the team is not ready? A winning team is built from the ground up.
Let him come next year as a UFA
