On the most recent episode of TSN Insider Trading, the hosts on the show discussed the Winnipeg Jets and Patrik Laine, and how, apparently, the Jets are absolutely serious with the intention of trading him.

The discussion then goes into a talk on how the Columbus Blue Jackets apparently have interest, how the Carolina Hurricanes have apparently backed out of trade talks, and how the Montreal Canadiens haven’t even entered the conversation, despite the Habs’ need for a top scorer.

  1. I don’t know why people keep putting the habs in laine trade rumours, what do they have to offer that’s a good enough package for a top 5 goal scorer in the league?

  2. I wonder if Winnipeg would bite on a Nylander from Toronto. He could be that second line centre for them. Laine makes the leafs bigger and the production won’t drop. Just a thought.

  3. Remember when Jet's fans insisted that Laine was better than Matthews?
    Player Games Goals Assists Points
    Matthews 282 158 127 285 +37
    Laine 305 138 109 247 -1
    Nylander 307 86 135 221 +12
    Marner 300 83 208 291 +27

Pretty interesting to look at now. Laine's good, don't get me wrong, but He's not what the Jets fans thought they were getting by a long shot. 20 fewer goals, 18 fewer assists and while +- isn't a complete indicator on its own of defensive ability there's obviously a huge gap there in comparison to Matthews, Marner and Nylander. The big three are obviously better than I thought defensively but I think that's more because other teams are on the defensive when they are on the ice than those players ability to defend well.

  4. I seriously have zero idea what you say at the the end of these hahah
sounds like VJKHGBJYUTFGEJSYDWOS nine nine… and bye

  5. bottom line: Jets need a 2nd line center and a big steady d-man. hopefully the Jets can sign Mikael Granlund then who they get for Laine will really get interesting!!!

  6. Forget it Bergevin won't pull the trigger because he's a first liner, which completely against Bergevin stubborn mediocre plan!!

  7. I also believe that if you are hoping for laine your giving up a great player in return… So werenki or dubois would have to be considered.

  8. Pierre Lebrun has already said Bergevin is not pursuing Laine. That money is targeted for Petroangelo

  9. The Blue Jackets have depth at defense. This is where they might do a move including a draft choice.
I have a feeling Montreal has already a deal on the ice with Detroit for Manta…
it will be exciting in the next couple of weeks.

  10. annnnnnd there we have the pacioretty trade winner confirmed…would you trade suzuki tatar and norlinder for laine? cause id trade pacioretty for laine…

  11. Chevy is listening to "offers". Not entertaining them. Unless he gets an offer that blows him away he aint trading Laine. You don't trade a potential 50 goal scorer to fill a need at second line center/top 4 D.

  12. Laine will demand a big contract and his asset value in a cap world will take a discount. Having said that, if I am Montreal GM, domi, mete and a 1st is the most I am willing to trade but at the same time I don’t think Winnipeg will accept that. So it is normal Habs is not entertaining the idea because it is not a match.

  13. Add to the fact that Taylor Hall is UFA and will not require to give up asset to acquire. Laine option is not that attractive as both will demand a high cap hit

  14. Montreal could give up
    Mete, kulak, juulsen
    Domi or Danault
    Caufield ylonen
Could also give some 1st and some 2nd too
But does Winnipeg really want any of that for Laine?

Wouldn't you want, Romanov, KK or Suzuki.. for starters?

  15. Doesnt matter what CBJ has to offer, Wennberg will have to be apart of the deal if not hes bought out most likely

  16. Honestly I think most of these videos are garbage rumours. However. This one, Makes ALOT of sense and could actually see them moving Laine at the Draft. It honestly makes TOO much sense.

If you look at Winnipeg’s forward group
You have Wheeler, Scheifele, Connor, Ehlers, little , all signed to pretty team friendly deals for the most part, and all signed for 4 years plus. With Laines inconsistency I can’t see him garnering more then somewhere in the Nylander type money. I would say maybe a tad bit more then Nylander would be where Laine would fall for his ACTUAL play and not Hype. 7.5*4 is probably exactly where the team should be on Laine and I bet Laine is going to be looking for more Rantanen money 9.25×5 or 6 . Fact is Rantanen is a more consistent, more dynamic better overall player then Laine Laine has also never come close to scoring a point per game in a season I don’t believe Rantanen has had a few in the same amount of games played so I could see this being very far off from what Laine would want and what he ACtUaLlY deserves.expecially with the flat cap. I’d be very concerned giving Laine more then 7.5 on a 4 year deal to me he should be right around where Kyle Connor is 7.1 based on actual point output. But I just can’t see him taking such a slight raise and signing a long term deal I don’t so this should be interesting

  17. ZERO chance winnipeg trades Laine, you don't trade a #2 pick 4 years in!!!
Plus Buff left! Why would we tear down?
We can sign Peitro, keep laine and ehlers and schief.
And then decide later on Morrisey, Conner resign, and Pionk or Demelo.
This wholebl trade laine thing sounds dumb

  18. Could see Carolina getting back into the picture if the Dougie extension negotiations go south. Laine for Hamilton one-for-one sign-and-trade?
