great to see these old matches!!! thank you. We always remember the chip on 17 but the cup was over by then. Hunter's missed birdie on 11 was a huge missed opportunity. Also, i forgot how close this Ryder Cup really was….
Mahan never recovered from that ignominious shot.

I remember that time I played the Ryder cup. I was two down with four holes to go. I couldn't even think about my game any more. All I could think about was that I was letting down my team, my team captain, my country, those poor kids in the orphanage, my father, my mother, my younger sister who thinks I can do know wrong and looks up to me in every way.
But especially my little kitty, Muffy. When I eventually lost she never looked at me the same way again.
Why did Hunter concede? Mc Dowell had a decent putt left for par. Had he missed it and halved the hole, Hunter could have won the 18th to even the match and the cup. Maybe I am missing something.
