7 Most Infamous Curses in World Football

From the curse of Bela Guttmann leading to Benfica’s misery in the European Cup / Champions League, to the idea that every time former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey scores a goal, it can have fairly damning consequences, HITC Sevens takes a look at some of the best known curses in world football.

  1. science represented by a bigoted missionary for jus ideology … just wrong

  2. the Benfica one is very true for one reason, they have always been a corrupt and cheap club that's why they don't win, they could't even give a raise to the manager that got them the only 2 Europe cups they have, better to use the money to fill pockets, even now in 2021 the DIrector of the club got arrested XD

  3. Another German one: Schalke. They won the German championship 7 times (but all before the Bundesliga was launched), but since then, they won sometimes in international championships or in the DFB Pokal, but always ended somewhere between 2 and 18 in the Bundesliga. Even though they won for example the title in the 2. Bundesliga twice, they never won the big title in the Bundesliga. They also are number 7 in the all-time Bundesliga table, making them the best team who never won the Bundesliga title.
They came close in the 2000/01 season, but in the end Bayern still got a goal against the HSV, giving them the needed point to win the title. And all of that was decided in the last few minutes of the season. We also have a joke here: Schalker kriegen keine Schale (Schalkers don't get a bowl), since the trophy is shaped like a bowl

  4. At 2:14, you say that Bela Guttmann , alongside Eusebio, won a european cup twice in the space of 3 years, but Eusebio didn't win the first one. He signed a year after that. However, this didn't change the quality of the content, in this video. Keep it up!

  5. It's always the curse but nobody's been talking about blessing like leicester with buddhist monks

  6. I know this video is over a year old now but 13:22 Leverkusen lost 4:2 to Schalke in the DFB Pokal not Hertha Berlin. Hertha never made it to a Pokal final, at least the first team. The Year prior Schalke won 2:0 agains Union Berlin in the final.

  7. There was one player that (kind of) broke the Neverkusen curse with Lucio winning the 2002 World Cup.

  8. @HITC Sevens, please do your research right. Leverkusen lost in the DFB Cup 4-2 to Schalke, not 2-1 to Berlin

  9. Alfie is hard on these curses. But I mean as soon as the teams fixed the issues they started winning… coincidence? Probably but its fun to think not

  10. Personally, I'd definitely watch a video about Bela Gutmann. Fascinating character x

  11. This channel is brilliant, it elevates football to a higher level. Love all the research you do and hearing about the history. The People's Channel indeed

  12. As an African, I will simply tell you this, not out of superstition or anything, witches exist. Maybe you should shine your light a little on African local leagues, you will understand better.

  13. in 2002, you could also add that some bayer leverkusen player loss to brasil in the final of the world cup, which means that Ballack is one of the few player to have loss 4 finals in 1 year

  14. Actually Leverkusen were not beaten 2 1 by Hertha in DFB Pokal Final but 4 1 by Schalke.

  15. Thankfull for all that Guttmann as given to us (and fuck those that didn't give him a raise), but this year!… "Fuck him" (hugs and kisses Guttmann)… This is the year we comeback!
