REACTION: LEAFS FANS PANIC AFTER DUBAS LET GO

BarDown’s resident Leafs fan Corwin is joined by Luca to discuss Brendan Shanahan’s press conference and the organization’s decision to not bring back Kyle Dubas as their general manager. What does that mean for the team’s future and what does it mean for their core four of Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, William Nylander and John Tavares?

  1. Man I really liked most of the things Dubas was doing and I am worried about how the rest of the staff will react. I liked that Spezza was still part of the organization and it sucks that he's gone now. I just hope that whoever they bring in does a good job and doesn't entirely blow it all up.

  2. The trades weren't bad.
    The signings were though.
The money they put up handicapped them in every area and aspect.
You literally can't fill out a 22+ person roster when half of your cap goes to 4 guys.
    It's just not feasible.

  3. Please just hire a GM that doesn't give players blank cheques, a little hard ball needs to be played, if we keep most of or all the core intact, you can't let them get raises equal to the salary cap going up or we'll be stuck with the same damn team and bottom lines being pieced together with tape and bubblegum.

  4. Crazy how by Dubas starting all this it’s cost him his job and taken all the eyes off Keefe. Let’s remember he lost to a Zamboni driver, Columbus, Montreal, Tampa and now Florida. But hey that’s the learning curve right?

  5. He obviously wanted to leave . You hardly insult your bosses , owners and fans like a prima Donna and expect anything else . What a ridiculous woke world hahahahahah beat it Kyle good riddance

  6. I gotta agree with the Steve dangle take on this, that Shan presser yesterday was a shiv into the back of Kyle Dubas.

  7. this is kinda what happens when you dont win the important games, but i dont think its all on dubas, shannahan and keefe were part of this too

  8. Doesnt make sense that they let the youngest GM have the keys to the franchise.

  9. I respect the decision. I thought Shanahan did a good job explaining the situation. If Dubas was deliberating for days and came back with another offer on Thursday then I could see how Brendan would already shift into turnover mode. Everything moves so fast this time of year the boys upstairs gotta gather themselves quick cuz theres a lot of shit to figure out

  10. DUMBEST SHIT I EVER SEEN IN HOCKEY, BAD DECISION AND THE WAY THE ORGANIZATION HANDLED IT WAS EVEN WORSE. I'M DONE WITH THIS TEAM.

  11. SHANNY AND KEEFE SHOULD HAVE BEEN SHOWN THE DOOR. EVEN IF YOU HATED WHAT DUBAS DID WITH HIS JOB SHANNY HIRED HIM.

  12. The moment we shot ourselves in the foot was when we signed John for 11 trillion. Auston should have had the C right off the bat. Huge blunder in 2018.

  13. NOW THEY ARE GOING TO HIRE SOME OLD STUFFED SHIRT. THE SAME THINKING SAME OLD BULLSHIT OLD BOYS CLUB…JIM BENNING….BRAD TRELVING GTFO WITH THAT SHIT

  14. If we lose Marner or Matthews when the dust is settled, I'm taking an extended vacation from supporting this organization. I simply can't watch either of those two tear up the leafs in the future.

  15. Dubas f@%ked up! Why would Toronto pay him more for the record he has achieved in his time as GM? Definitely the right move to let him go.

  16. The way Dubas overplayed his OWN contract negotiation, gives great insight into how he got so easily played by the core 4- amateur hour. Changing over 33% of your team on deadline day was another panicky amateur move. Publicly saying you're not sure if you want to be here- amateur move. Not a fan of Shanny, but his instincts are dead on with this move.

  17. Gotta stop for a minute and look at every player and especially Keefe, he can't coach past that hump, and refereeing was absolutely terrible, Cuba's will eventually resurface, probably Pittsburgh or possibly Buffalo

  18. The best GM the Sabres have had in a long time was just some guy in the organization. Kevyn Addams wasn’t an AGM before becoming GM. literally the first time I heard his name as a life long Sabres fan was the day he was hired as GM.
