I think Myers’ biggest flaw is his lack of hockey IQ. He just doesn’t anticipate the play well or make reads in the moment. His size and the fact he’s a RHD make him more than he is. It’s hard to believe he won the Calder with his play over the past handful of years. The game just feels like it’s passing Myers by.

To be fair to him there are four white jerseys within what 20 feet of the net and only two canadians back with less than 10 minutes left in a 2-1 game. He effectively does block the cross ice pass, but he’s just not mobile enough to get back up and the two guys back get absolutely no help from any of the forwards.
Now, Myers doesn’t look great here but I really don’t think it’s worth piling on him. I’d be more curious what the other three guys are doing up by the blueline when there are four swiss players attacking the net in a close game. Not that I give a shit and neither do the players apparently, but I hate the trend of picking on one guy when the defense were basically abandoned just from looking at this clip. They all just coast back. What the fuck was Myers supposed to do? He either drops down to block the pass across the crease or he takes one of the two players that are alone in front of the net. He can’t do it all and the forwards just don’t get back quick enough on this play.
Give him a break. The air must be thinner way up there with that giraffe neck.
