Matthews doesn't deserve the money he makes…he's not in Connor McDavid's class…geezuz..he's good but ..at that money …NO!!!

Leafs should trade to a team in need of a top Center like NJD. They have some intriguing defensemen like Simon Nemec, Luke Hughes and Damon Severson.
Matthews deserves around 9M or 10M for his type of play. I say trade him now and get as much as you can for this soft player.
Matthews is gone as an UFA if the Leafs don't trade him by July 1st.

A new GM won’t cave to Matthews ridiculous demand to be the highest paid player in the world on a short term contract. Dubas likely would have given it to him. Nothing wrong with letting the players know that their personal agendas need to take a back seat to the team’s success. Otherwise it will be more of the same playoff failures.
Trade all the big 4! If you have a shrewd GM HE could turn these 4 guys into picks and prospects and current NHL players that could change this organization around! Look at Seattle! in two years they are doing better then the Leafs did in the last 20 years! Superstars are overrated. Build a team with size, speed heart, character. If you look at the best so called players in the world, almost all are on the sidelines! All beat by WILL!! Skill can be neutralized very easily.

Dubas talked his way out of his job 😂😂😂. Matthews can go, the team didn’t win Jack shit with him and were an embarrassment in 5 years of playoffs.
As soon as the new GM is in place, he should offer Marner and Mathew 500k more than they are making now for three more years, and if they do not accept, he should trade them. Similarly, offer 1 million more for Nylander for three more years.
Time to trade Matthews and Marner have had enough of their spoiled behavior coming dressed like Al Capone to a hockey game and fold like cheap suits when the going gets tough
Players want to negotiate with Dubas. Of course they do. He is terrible at it. I wish I could negotiate with Dubas for everything from a new car to cell phone service.
