Gudas hit on Kampf – Have your say!

Radko Gudas finished his check on David Kampf. However it was after Kampf touched the puck to draw a whistle on an upcoming penalty to the Leafs. There was no penalty to Gudas on the play. Should there have been? Tough Call will be reviewing the incident. Have your say!

  1. hit after the whistle…two whistles, even…was there crowd noise, sure…but that is often the case with whistles around the net. Where do you draw the line?

  2. Leafs fans have no idea what a penalty is. This is playoff hockey and a clean hit for the playoffs.

  3. The fact that he stands there and expects a Leaf to come after him…tells you a lot about what type of hit it was..bring back Simmonds for a game.

  4. So what Makar did makes him the most evil player to ever touch ice but Gudas going way above and beyond is iffy?

  6. Comment section grasping at straws over an absolute nothing burger of a clean hit.

  7. The play was obviously missed by the officials as the focus was on stopping the play once the Leafs got possession of the puck. But you have to look at the circumstances of the hit and whether it was necessary to use contact to impede the opposing player. Under normal circumstances this would be considered a clean hit. He took four strides, coasted and then made contact. But this was a delayed penalty and play is immediately halted and the whistle blown when the offending team gains possession. It can only be deemed a legal check if the player is trying to touch the puck to stop the play and was hit just before. If close enough it wouldn't be called an interference penalty but that too is a judgement call based on how far the player was from touching the puck. If player safety is supposed to be of the utmost importance here, the officiating missed an attempt to injure match penalty as from the distance Gudas took to make contact it was premeditated and could have been avoided. Also, Kamph is not expecting to be hit with that force as once he touches the puck he knows the whistle will be blown. He is also skating towards the boards with his back to Gudas in a defenseless position. Once he angles along the boards to make the touch Gudas is there in his face. He could not have seen him coming nor expected the hit. Neither a boarding or charging penalty. Attempt to injure match penalty. If I was Leafs management I would have been incensed as this is something that can be reviewed by the League office.

  8. One of the most disgusting plays I've ever seen, after the whistle or not. There seems to be two rule books: one for goons like Gudas and one for the rest of them. His hit on Reilly with one second left in the game is also bad. He will continue to do it until the officials start to call it.

  9. it was a charge. it was after the whistle. it was boarding/attempt to injure. So, pretty standard Gudas…

  10. If that's a clean hit, hockey is broken. Sad and barbaric that any of you can think that's okay.

  11. I don't see how it's remotely a "tough call". The whistle had blown way before the hit. No arguing that

  12. So many Tards so little time , great hockey hit Kampf had the puck , he coasted , lined him up shoulder to shoulder slightly to the front of Kampf which is why he spun the way he did , drove through him without leaving his feet . All you Americans can go back to your XBox that was a great hit nothing tough to call because there was no call to make on the play .

  13. Gudas knew exactly what he was doing, his reaction after the hit tells you everything you need to know. Just hope Schenn, Mccabe or Reilly blows up Barkov or Tkachuk the same way next game.

  14. Had that been Bunting, or any Leaf the suspension would have been instantaneous…what a terrible league.

  15. Gudas is a predator and a loser. I don't have a dog in the fight, but these leafs gotta lay out gudas and Bennett, 2 cheap shot artists

  16. Leafs are all princesses and their fans are a bunch of babies who cry like spoiled brats 😩

  17. Clean hit and not a single Leaf even threatens to hit Gudas with their purse or scratch his eyes out.

  18. The contact isn't suspendable, but the taking strides to full speed is charging with intent to injure. And it was late, dumb guy.

  19. It’s clear Gudas intends to hurt the other player well before the hit. Terrible type of hockey.

  20. If the video was earlier, there would be what looks a delayed penalty on leafs 38. Florida player pulled down right side of crease. Ref behind goal line no arm up, ref at blue line, arm up. Gudas at the top of the circle. Kampf gains possession without seeing the delayed call takes one crossover, gets hit. Hitting a player 4ft from the boards is supposed to be a penalty. The point being to separate the player without injury.
