Do the Montreal Canadiens Draft Matvei Michkov at #5 if they Can.
My opinion on whether or not the Habs will pick Matvei Michkov, if available, with the #5 pick at this year’s draft.

great intro. i think heart trumps talent
i would bet on a team consisting of an average goalie, 6 average defenseman, and 13 gallaghers to win every other year. (say… all one year older starting at 20)
It is risky to draft him. Wait 3 years before he plays a single game is too long. If Will Smith or Carlsson is available take one of them. Preferably Will smith
they clearly wont Leonard is perfect for us
How will that work Rick, if say for example the Habs draft Michkov this year, 2023. If, he is NOT allowed to play in the NHL due to NHL sanctions will he have to sign a contract within 2 years as normal, or will there be some kind of extension granted due to the NHL sanctions?
dont pick him you will be sory
They dont want to draft another Auston Matthews? Lmao!!! Are you well? We would take a player with half his talent!
like I said there is a rumour that his KHL team will blackmail him to stay there till 2028, his dad died under suspicious circumstances while trying to get him out of KHL contract, will his family pay if he leaves, will they send him to the Ukraine front where he could get hurt or die. I want Smith….
I take Michkov all day at 5 if he is there. If they decide to pass on Michkov if he's available which I hope they don't do…I would take Ryan Leonard.
Love you ripping Mathews.
Visa sections (particularly the USA) are closed in Russia. The risk that he will be difficult to get him over will preclude wanting to waste a high pick (first round) on.
Michkov has proven he checks all the boxes, in junior international competition he outclassed the field, including Bedard, and won MVP, he literally puts his KHL team on his shoulders against men, and even playing in Russian senior national team (friendly matches) he is teams playdriver and leader.
