    Ultras are just like any other gang, it’s just that they’re a gang based around their football club other than bikers or drug ring. When things like this go south, someone could get killed. Knollsy deserves a medal for using his old man strength to make a difference

    It was fantastic. The way those two old West Ham men fought and protected their own was heroic. Shove your take a knee ball but those men were magnificent.

    Unfortunately still a big problem in the Netherlands. A small group of so called fans but in fact hooligans screw up for the majority being the real fans. The crowd was shouting "shame on you" to the hooligans, but of course that didn't stop them. The clubs are being punished in all kind of ways, from fines to playing in empty stadiums, but that will not stop them either. These people need to be traced, banned from stadiums forever and need to convicted so they will carry a criminal record. At the moment games are being stopped for 15 minutes whenever something is thrown on the field (a glass of beer mostly) and ended definitively a 2nd time this happens. And I can tell you, this happens frequently. The Feyenoord stadium "de Kuip" has nets around the whole field in order to avoid this, after a Ajax player was hit the head by a lighter. By the way, I am a 61 year old Feyenoord fan, born and raised in Rotterdam (the South side) although not visiting games frequently.

    Typical one-sided journalism as we are used to from the islanders. One forgets to mention that it all started in London where relatives of AZ players have been seriously threatened by West Ham scum. This was a retaliatory action.

    Nothing to do with AZ or West Ham, just a bunch of loonies using football as the convenient vehicle for violence, with the right environment, after losing the match, the crowd , with a bunch of foreigners on the pitch ,family members and opposition fans within easy access. AZ and maybe West Ham will be punished financially or otherwise, but don’t deserve it, and questions will be asked regarding the response of ‘ security ‘, similar to the potential for disaster with just one fan gaining access to Eddie Howe last week at the Newcastle game. A different scenario, but not if the fan had produced a large blade and plunged it into Eddie’s chest, a bloke just doing his job. Any of that stuff can happen to Joe Public at any time on the street, but in a confined, supposedly controlled environment, involving large numbers of people, even seemingly minor incidents can get out of hand quickly.

    I found this conversation very strange. Jim White spent hours and hours.. going on about this. On yesterday's show they had a Dutch reporter on talking about the West Ham fans attacking AZ fans in the stadium last week in London. AZ families and friends attacked by West Ham Thugs… that conversation lasted 6 minutes. And was not mentioned again. Yet, last night's events are being debated and talked about for hours and hours and hours. Jim… maybe the West Ham families got a bit of what the AZ families received last week ??? Hypocritical.

    “Ultras”. They were literally teens with hoodies misbehaving. English people act as if these were guys like the Russians that were throwing them across squares and made them flee city centers and not put their jersey on before a match a couple of years back during some international tournament…

    These young cowardly dutch men wearing ski masks would know that the enclosure they were heading for was English people who largely would be vulnerable. They wouldn't pick a fight with Brits that could defend themselves. The phrase " English football hooligan " gets thrown about too often. Yet it is Europe who largely need fences up at their grounds to keep these animals in their enclosures. The fact that their version of old firm gangs still exist in this day and age under the banner of Ultras is a testament to the fact they are living in the dark ages where football support is concerned.
