I guess I am one of those weird guys who also have Carlsson below Benson and Smith.
I have a huge hockey crush on Benson, I believe he could have a very strong career and help his team win in a lot of different ways, mostly because of his IQ and compete level, despite his size.
EIther way, if Habs draft Carlsson I'll be thrilled, I believe he has stunning potential.
Currently, my preference for pick 5 goes as follows, considering Bedard and Fantilli are likely gone :
– Michkov
– Benson
– Smith
– Carlsson
– Several players
– Dvorsky
Outside of highlights,does he fall on the ice easy? And does he have his head up enough when moving? As a MTL fan I am becoming allergic to these bad traits.
The top 3 it’s pretty much a lock at this point for me. It’s going to be 1. Bedard. 2. Fantilli 3. Smith (Columbus confirmed ) 4. I KARLSSON / mitchkov. 5. Mitchkov / KARLSSON

I believe hes playing 4th line minutes but also on the PP so its not really a concern I would say that a lot of his points were coming for the PP.
If he's there at 4 I hope the sharks take him.

I haven't seen Smith a whole lot but I'm really puzzled he's being put in the same tier as this guy… assuming you're looking for someone to stick down the middle for 5-10 years and go in deep playoff runs with, that is.

There have been comparisons to Mats Sundin (which would be pretty damn good !!)… from all I hear about Carlsson, I see that as more of an accurate comparison than to Mikko Rantanen. Is that reasonable? Cheers
I think Smith is a better talent at #4. I’m a bit scared of the Russian player with that defensive compete being missing. I was hoping for the sharks to get Fantilli. But it is what it is
The guy cannot score well. Not a great skater.
I like Fantilli a bit more (like most people) but I agree he COULD end up as a better player- or even just as good. I'm a big zegras fan but I sort of like the supporting cast in Columbus a little better! Laine would be a great triggering, gaudreau is a dual threat beast, I think KJ is going to be hube as a amazing winger and next year is werenskis coming out party as a top ten offensive Dman in the league. Thats a lot ofbhelp for the kid!!!
