This is the coolest thing. Eva. Great job. Who’s the guy in the stands

This corner got cut off in my original post. (pic #1)

The “Perfection Line”. I know they were not together lately, but these guys are my all time favorite line. Espo/Cashman/Hodge and Oates/Neely/?? are close behind. Watching them together is like watching the 86 Celtics or Roger Federer on a tennis court-Sugar Ray Leonard. They are just art. Any other favorite lines?

Bobby Orr is my favorite all-time player and I have Brad Park as his partner. I could have went with Bourque or Chara, but I have them on here already and I loved Brad Park.

Boston has had a lot of great goaltenders in their history. Tiny Thompson, and Mr. Zero come to mind from the old days, but I went with Cheevers in net. His back-up in the other goal is Gilles Gilbert.

Now behind the net I have Tuuka Rask. He is on here because I was wrong about him. I was one of his harshest critics but he proved himself to me during that 2019 SCP. He would have been-should have been MVP. I consider him a stanley cup winning starting goalie (kind of) Not his fault. Similar to how I felt about DeBrusk. Now I can’t imagine trading him. But I sure wanted to. Easy to be wrong about a player.

The guy on the other side of the official is Dit Clapper. He played half of his career at forward and then the other half on defense and was a star at each end. I put him next to the official, because during a game a referee was giving it to dit clapper and Clapper punched him. Knocked him on his ass. That referee was Clarence Campbell. I enjoy that story.

In Pic 2. That is Linus Ullmark celebrating his goal. I don’t know how many times I have watched that segment. Just hearing Jack’s excitement calling this goal, I will never get tired of watching it.

The pic is blurry, but next to Ullmark in the stands is Willie O’Ree getting his number retired. Because of COVID?? Willie had his ceremony off the ice. I didn’t know much about him. Sounds like an injury to his eye shortened his career. Seemed like a real classy guy during his ceremony.

In pic 3 is the famous brawl in the stands at Madison Square Garden. In 1979, Phil Esposito, playing for the Rangers had a breakaway in the final seconds and Cheevers stoned him to preserve a one goal lead and win the game. Espo was pissed and slammed his stick to the ice and Cheevers gave him a pat on the butt and they left the ice. During that time someone in the crowd that taken a Bruins players stick and hit him with it. McNabb went over the boards as well as Milbury. I also have O’rielly going back there but he isn’t in this shot. Milbury is one of the first figures I did. I remember this clearly. I made a white shoe so it was more visible. I don’t know how Milbury showed such restraint. He only hit him once. The best part of it all was when someone asked Cheevers why he didn’t come back out (espo did) Cheevers said that when he found out what was going on, he was already on his second beer.

In the final pic, I had to choose a body check to represent all of the great checks/hits I’ve seen. My favorite hit was the Torrey Krug hit on Thomas in the SCF in 2019. I just couldn’t figure out how to do it right, so I went with my close second favorite hit. Lucic just crushed Van Ryn through the glass. Another scene I’ve watched many times. You can’t just watch it once. Any other great hits you remember?

I like how you also reflected the too many men penalty from ‘79.

  4. It’s stuff like this that makes me wish I was alive during the Orr or Borque eras. I was born in 2004, so I only really remember the 2011 run onwards. A pretty decent decade for a Bruins fan, but man the history and legends this team has had makes me envious of those that remember it all.
