Bennett hit on Aho

Sebastian Aho drove the net for the shot, so Sam Bennett drove Aho INTO the net. Didn’t even use a crosscheck either.

  1. I say he just lets him shoot and get the rebound and shoot again.
Why does he have to be mean and check him? It doesn’t seem very gentlemanly of him.

  2. Former hack referee here saying 50/50 in the NHL. Many examples of open-ice, back of shoulder hits being called for vulnerability so you could articulate that here. On the other hand, low referee was on the clear side (not blocked out, but that hardly matters I guess), Aho was a metre or more from the crease, no stick/elbow/glove up high, Aho was just turning as he shot, and yes, he went into the net but not because that was the only place he was going to go due the check. I'm guessing there was no call here, and I would concur if it was my whistle.

  3. This feels like the cleanest hit Bennett has laid all playoffs.

I think if it’s in the regular season the receiving team might consider it a little cheap and take exception, but it just gets chalked up as playoff hockey at this point.

  4. As a Canes fan I say this was a clean hit. However there were many missed calls on Fl in this game. The worst was the high stick at the end. Not that it would have mattered. RBA continues to put the same PP unit out first thst does nothing and is on the ice for too long not giving PP unit 2 any time to work.

  5. The Panthers have a solid team. Bennet is simply a dirty player with NO SPORTSMANSHIP. Players from all teams are going to make questionable plays, it's a contact sport. But with countless dirty plays, it's ashame the NHL doesn't care to disallow such behavior. If the Panthers win the cup, Bennet does not deserve to lift it.

  6. So many missed calls in this game its ridiculous. They miss obvious shit and call touchy shit like that bullshit slashing call on Skjei

  7. As a Canes fan, this one was clean. But, you should post the elbow to the head that Aho got from Gudas. That one should have been called

  8. Hit in the numbers makes it from behind. It wasn't crazy dangerous but it is a rule. It's also the playoffs and they havent called shit anyway so why start now?
