Given the names of the experienced coaches rumored as Ranger candidates, I would be fine with going in a completely different deferent direction with Carbery.
Only 41, he has already been ECHL coach of the year, AHL coach of the year, and an assistant at Washington and Toronto, where he was responsible for the league’s 2nd best power play (and before you think that was all Toronto’s great skill players, they were ranked 16th the year before Carbery got there).
He is light years ahead of where David Quinn was as a candidate (in experience and success) when he was hired, so I am not going to write off a guy like this because Quinn failed.
I have yet to be interviewed for the position. I’m very qualified, here’s my resume:
