  1. Not sure I understand the appeal of hiring the guy that botched the signing of the Flames 2 best players.

  2. Arch-Vader

Are there any breakdowns of his tenure / big moves as GM of the flames?

  3. Samurai1221

It could be worse I guess lol hope he succeeds here.

  4. Intelligent_Chair901

We all knew this was headed towards exactly this. What an uninspiring hire to say the least. That being said as long as he can extend Matthews I’ll be happy.

  5. Menessy27

Could be better but could also be way worse. If Markstrom wasn’t trash this season this is probably perceived way differently

  6. burkeocet

If they hire him, I won’t be the least bit excited about it. What’s next, they bring in Sutter too? Lol.

I wish they’d stop recycling the same failed GM’s and coaches over and over.

I’m excited to see what Treiliving can do with our resources. He’s a pretty smart hockey guy. I have no idea why so many people on here are down about this. IT’s almost like Reddit is an echo chamber and people who have no idea what they’re talking about are spewing hate.

  8. kingex11

Good drafting, decent trades, and isn’t afraid to make big moves to keep his team competitive. Leafs could do a lot worse.

  9. TheCarrier89

I’m not exactly thrilled about this but I also don’t really know of anyone who would be better so we’ll see I guess.

  10. sokocanuck

    Fuuuuuuuck.

Weekend at Bernies – GM addition

Shanny probably only has 1 more bullet and it’s his so I hope for his sake this works out.

  11. Altaccount_man

The irrational hate for brad is weird. He hasn’t been bad and the one big trade people want to shit on is only 1 year old and will look way different with the coaching change.

  12. gotfcgo

Will you do what I tell you?

Do you love Hall & Oates?

    Welcome to Toronto, Brad.

  13. Current-Own

I won’t cheer for this team again as long as Shanahan is president. The day he leaves will be a day of great joy.

  14. Peace-Park-2838

St. Louis Blues reporter reporting on the Leafs GM search…. right

  15. ifrankenstein

I don’t care about the core 4 stuff. If he can somehow figure out the goaltending and defense problems I’m good.

  16. SeanRyanNJ

He’s got experience. Experience of trading away franchise players

  17. Forum_ryder74

    Lol at Strickland knowing anything

  18. HenryGreatSageJunkie

Oh wow a gm that had won 2 rounds but not made the playoffs as often as the leafs since 2016. What a resume on this upgrade. I hope everyone is happy.

  19. Puzzled89

There’s nothing better available right now. Nobody amazing is leaving their job immediately to take the job.

  20. offside21

    Hold the anchovies. Nooooo!

This new season of Succession sucks.

  21. Steakholder_

Treliving doesn’t exactly excite me, but he also doesn’t terrify me, which puts him above most of the other names floated

  22. Bobaximus

Such a downgrade imo. At the end of the day, Shanny now owns the success or failure of the team. I think he has 2-3 years to win or be run out.

  23. swimbaitjesus

The more all this shit comes out.. really starting to think Shanny may be the issue here… this is the definition of a lateral move.

  24. JRocleafs

People saying this is a downgrade are laughable and WAY to attached to Dubas’ persona and not his body of work.

Treiliving is one of the most respected GM’s in the league, I think he’s going to do great here. Dubas was liked in Toronto, but there’s question marks on how much the other GMs respected him.

  25. Gankdatnoob

I think it’s fortunate that someone like him is available tbh. He’s a good GM.

This is who I was hoping for besides Armstrong. Time to get to work
