  1. Refreshing to see a non-Ducks centric source be so knowledgeable about our prospect pool and overall future. So many big media outlets and others who cover hockey assume we're screwed long term because of how disastrous last year was, when in reality the flaws of our team were exacerbated by the horrendous coaching of Eakins and some stealth tanking moves by Verbeek (signing Beaulieu, refusing to claim Tolvanen etc). We recently became the first team to have three defenseman prospects (Zellweger, Mintyukov, Luneau) win defenseman of the year in each of the 3 CHL leagues in the same season and Drysdale will be healthy next year so I'm stoked for our blue line long term. Going off your point about Zegras, he still predominantly played center last year but spent ample time on Strome's wing bc Eakins doesn't trust young centers down the middle for whatever reason (he played McTavish as a bottom six winger a lot early on which was brutal), but the move never made sense because Zegras operates from the middle with space so well and is better defensively than Strome by a good margin. However, I wouldn't mind a Zegras shift to the wing if he has a center (Fantilli or McTavish in this case) that can think and process the game near, at, or above the level he does, that way they can play off each other seamlessly. This was always an issue with Strome because even though he has some complimentary skill I feel that he's better suited as a winger, he can pull pucks off the boards and make crisp passes to the middle but he's not the guy that should have the puck on his stick for a long time because he doesn't have the footspeed, awareness or play driving ability to be a true offensive catalyst. But if we start to supplement the forward core with more quality wingers (which we're sorely lacking outside of Terry), then we could eventually roll out a 4 headed monster of Fantilli, Z, McTavish and Gaucher down the middle which would be insane.

Appreciate your guys' insight and I truly hope Rossi pans out btw. Wanted him so badly in the 2020 draft since we didn't yet have the center depth we currently do organizationally. Sucks to see he lost a year of development with covid and then was seemingly deployed poorly by Evason during his short stint with the WIld (I'll defer to you guys on that), but it's great seeing him have AHL success that he can hopefully parlay into the NHL next year. Cheers!
