The Maple Leafs’ roster has a couple of the brightest stars in the league in Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner, but have many questions and concerns that need to be addressed this offseason. For potential new GMs, how attractive is the Leafs’ vacancy? TSN Hockey’s Dave Poulin shares his thoughts.

The main attractions: Toronto is the hockey capital of the universe. To bring a Stanley Cup to Toronto would enshrine the GM for perpetuity and garner a bronze statue in front of Scotiabank Centre.
Good salary I'm sure, though living in a big city like Toronto would come with its challenges, not to mention all the media scrutiny. You'd have to be pretty tough mentally to handle it.
Leafs is the least attractive market for a gm because whoever they hire their fans will demand for the gm to be fired within 5 years of the job.
I whole heartly disagree, no cap space, diva players, have to deal with a board vs a few owners. As well a media group that comment 5 times a day. Not as good or close as they think they are. No real goalie your set with, for some reason dont put Rielly in as a core guy??? You cant win with a group that gets pushed off the puck, or unwilling to play team D.
Since the fans knows more about the leafs than the management team, they should hire the leafs fanbase and have them co manage the leafs as a collective next season.

Nah man I'm a leafs fan and I can tell you we as a fan base don't give two fs about regular season success. If PLAYOFF success comes at the cost of trading one of the top 4 then personally I'm all for it because these 4 have shown imo they can't get it done in the playoffs. I know you can't trade all 4 of them but tbh I kinda wish u could because I'm at a point where I don't think these guys can get it done
Dubas left a horrific mess but the endless budget and autonomy would be great for anyone.
Soon we will be back in the good old tom Wilson randy carlisle days of not being anywhere close to the playoffs. Ugh

Toronto is the hockey mecca of the world, and MLSE got the finance to hire that experienced GM they want, and the resources for the new GM to facilitate his plan (the focal point should be on the authority that he can have over Shanny) .
Until Shanahan is fired it won't solve this horrendous problem they have.
Shanahan was never right for that job if he was he would have kept Lou L as GM & never would have hired as snot nose kid like Kyle Dufas in the first place.
Shanahan is supposed to be old school well Lou L as GM wouldn't have let these snot nose self righteous kids aka the top 4 have all the money & power Lou would have never let that 💩 happen.
So who is to blame for all this mess with the core 4 it is Shanahan!
Until MLSE fires Shanahan the Maple Laughs curse of not winning the Stanley🏆Cup will continue bc they have all the wrong pieces in place ar the top management positions.
Shanahan was always a Detroit guy he has no business in Toronto when he doesn't build the team the way he use to play he & Dufas built the sofest team in the league that is scared of everyone afraid to go into the corners afraid to fight afraid they may actually show competitive ❤️
The team is so inconsistent it can never just win like 5 or 10 games in a row it always slumps so many times throughout the season.
The Leafs of past glory had true warriors players that would give 💯 every shift.
I would trade either Matthews, Marner & Nylander for players who played like Gary Roberts Toronto needs players like how Tkachuk is playing now for Florida he is the man there & everyone else follows his lead bc he is a true Leader not like Matthews or Marner who have no 💔 heart to lead or want to win the cup.
The problem for any GM is ownership likes having a razzle dazzle team that scores a lot of goals and sells a lot of merchandise making everyone rich. They will pretend they want management to build a physical team with grit for the playoffs. They know the fans are more interested in what they have now so they won't allow that to happen
