Parker Valby has a problem

Parker Valby did not look the healthiest in her NCAA conference race and it reminds us of her struggle with injury. This video talks more about this problem for Valby and why it is such a complex yet serious issue.

  1. Contrary to the assertion in this video, I would hope they know the source of her injury and the running she does does not impact her healing. Hard to say though that the ouchy Parker we saw at the end of the race is not being injured by competing. Wish her well.

  2. I'm a big fan of Parker's because she has a great attitude and although injured she still wins or places high in each race. So strong, so positive. May God bless her and heal her.

  3. If she could train injury free for just a few months Katelyn Tuohy would be #2 in the D1 NCAA.

  4. Valby has chronic issues with her left leg, fortunately her broken left foot has healed. It is the left leg that continues to give her problems. They have put out what the issue is and it will take physical therapy to help with healing. She is running well and the issue is minor. I'm optimistic that she will heal and be able to compete long term. She has won her races this season and would not have won if she had a serious injury. She will be fine.

  5. A shame we can't put some better effort at figuring out the issue. She won this 5k against a highly talented field and grimaced her way through the last few laps. Let's start supporting our future world-class athletes.

  6. It's sobering. Your analysis is more probing than the others I have seen. When Tuohy was recovering as an incoming freshman she was on a strict regimen of strength training and knee rehab that was very structured to her, essentially, commonplace disability. Parker has a baffling condition that is probably several interacting failures, possibly muscular as well as skeletal. We all hope and think warm, healing thoughts about Parker. As a dyed-in-the-wool Katelyn Tuohy fan I fervently wish for her recovery and success, and I am SURE Katelyn does too.

Women's track and field needs big stars. In the US we have a bevy of world beaters in the sprints up to and including the 800 (which is said to be the most punishing distance, neither a sprint nor a distance event) but the middle and long distances are beginning to shine, but lack healthy runners with international potential other than Tuohy. We need Parker, Natalie and Jenna to be back online, healthy and strong. If you are a prayerful person, pray. If you are not, focus your warm, healing light. Go Parker! Go Natalie! Go Jenna! And GO KATELYN!!!

  7. 100%…?
Seems she keeps losing to KT… and then another mental breakdown 😂😂

    Or that undiagnosed, something 🎉

  8. she indeed looks injured, her stride was very uneven, sad she has to run then. it's shortening her possible career.

  9. No one talks about the fact that she is too low body fat to be healthy. Which she wasn't a couple years ago looking at pictures.

  10. She’s young enough in her career where taking some time to red shirt and heal would benefit her immensely.

  11. If something isn't done to address her injury now, she could end up with something permanent. Sadly, she probably won't run as a pro as she would have to increase her mileage significantly but can barely run now. It might be time to concentrate on a good degree.

  12. Now that she is limping, it should be easier to diagnose the problem on a slow motion video.
There are physiotherapists who specialise in running biomechanics who should be able to help her.

  13. The more she runs on the injury the more she can ruin the injury terminally. They say the running may not hurt it, but the mind can. Her mind can tell her to take a careful step that sets her up to turn or twist the leg. I've taken cautious steps resulting into stumbles. I bet we've all done it. My goofiness I can laugh at. But a true athlete as Valby is, it is not worth it. Heal. Wait till next year. Tuohy might be pro next year, then you can win all your races you and Tuohy would have entered together. Another year older should likewise increase your strength and ability to run a better long distance time. I'm reading there is a lot of injuries in the first year of college track. Someone may need to look into that. Is it too much indoor course running where the turn is not only a sharper radius but also banked compared to HS where they never have been on such an indoor track? 3 years ago I walked the neighborhood sidewalk for 6 weeks that was slanted downward to the right due to the earth sinking and wound up I couldn't lift my right leg due to the pain that developed in my right knee.

  14. It really is surprising that there isn't a physio sorting this
. There was/is a brilliant one in Carlow, Irish Republic, that attracted a lot of elite runners.
