If the league wants Suspensions to mean something, make it a % of their salary. Even just .25-.5% will do the trick for anyone over league min. Min fine: 0.25%, max fine is 1%. Make it mean something.

You guys are crazy if you don't think that GMs have to run their trades and signings past someone. Even Doug Armstrong gets approval from the owner. Yes, he makes the decisions, the calls, the leg work, but he also has a boss, the owner. At least according to the article in The Athletic : Doug Armstrong as Maple Leafs GM makes perfect sense — but not for Blues
From The Athletic: "In St. Louis, he took over as GM in 2010 and worked under team president John Davidson. But in 2012, the Blues bought out Davidson’s contract and then in 2013 appointed Armstrong as president of hockey operations. So for a decade now, Armstrong has been in charge of all hockey decisions in St. Louis. He has stability and the trust of his owner. He keeps Stillman abreast of everything and gets his endorsement on signings and trades, but for all practical purposes, no one stands in his way of doing things the way he wants them done."

Just saying that with the Sabres, Kevyn Adams and his staff say, “Kim and Terry, we’re doing this, this and this, and this is why” and they just say “ok Kev we trust you” and look where he’s pushing the team. Having a good GM and support staff that knows what they’re doing that has little pushback from higher in the organization is crucial for success. Whatever GM comes in, it seems like there’s going to be problems with Shanahan.

Dubas literally said he wouldn't pop up somewhere else next week. He said he cant do it to his family. Hes either going to be gm of the leafs or taking time to evaluate away. That’s a fireable offense for Jamie Benn of his captaincy! And I like the Stars for their wicked fast rebuild. I like some guys on their team but Jamie Benn is pure trash. He’s trash and he’s even more so for not realizing it
Vegas fan here, feel free to disagree but Nurse absolutely deserved the instigation. Nurse and Hague jawed at each other at the face-off, Nurse didn’t engage with Hague then, waited for Hague to be in a board battle with Foegele (who then somewhat violently elbowed Hague in the face) and then went after him. Hague was willing at the face-off but Nurse didn’t engage until 15 seconds later as a second man-in? That’s instigation.
And for clarity’s sake, I think Petro should’ve gotten two games as well given what else has been called as a suspension this playoffs (Bunting being the outlier). What Petro did and Nurse did were not the same and comparing those in a vacuum would be unfair to treat equally, but that’s the thing, other suspensions would be on par with the Petro one and the Nurse is because of the technicality. It seems to me that every NHL fan not living in the 80s thinks the DoPS is a joke, so at least we can all agree on that.
