The Luke Hughes Dream (Vancouver Canucks & New Jersey Devils, WHY THE CANUCKS SHOULD BEAT MINNESOTA)

Luke Hughes is the 16-year-old brother of the Vancouver Canucks’ elite defenceman Quinn Hughes, and the New Jersey Devils’ franchise centre playmaker Jack Hughes. With potential like Luke Hughes has, which could arguably be higher than that of what Quinn Hughes had when he was a 16-year-old, it’s very easy to see why Luke Hughes would be a valued NHL prospect for the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.

This begs the question for both Vancouver Canucks fans and New Jersey Devils fans; how awesome would it be to have two Hughes brothers?

However, the problem for Canucks fans arises when thinking about their 2021 first round pick. As a result of the JT Miller trade with the Tampa Bay Lightning at the 2019 NHL Draft, as well as the Blake Coleman trade that the Lightning made with the New Jersey Devils, one of the Canucks’ upcoming first round picks belongs to the Devils. With New Jersey also in possession of their own first round pick, and potentially the Arizona Coyotes’ first round pick in 2021 as well via the Taylor Hall trade conditions, things could be way more likely to swing in the Devils’ favour in regards to acquiring the third Hughes.

  1. Man that Petey snipe at 5:05 had me distracted the rest of the video , the ping is so satisfying… when it goes in lol.

  2. i dont get the premise of this video
1.we dont make playoffs and get a 12.5% chance at Laf. Tampa gets our 1st next year.
    2. we make the playoffs and dont get a shot at Laf, but get a shot at L. Hughes next year
But… 12.5% is likely much greater than our % at Hughes assuming we miss the playoffs next year .

  3. Are you really not sure who do you have to pick between Lafreniere and L.Huges?
One is expected to be "Next Crosby" and the other one is Q.Huges ver.2.0
Why do we have to have a defenseman just like Q.Huges when we have Q.Huges?
Let the devils have two Huges. I say let's go for 12.5% to get Next Crosby.

Besides we have a solid 12.5% to get No.1 pick. If we decide to go for L.Huges we have to start from scratch.
More losing seasons and unhappy veterans… Let's put an end to this.

  4. Like Hughes dropped quite a bit this season, all the way to the 2nd round in some cases.
    He isn't Quinn.

  5. I'm good with the Hughes we have. If they somehow lose to Minny, we get a shot at Lafreniere, or at worst, a mid round pick (hello Braden Schneider/Kaiden Guhle). I'm not buying the fear mongering about the '21 pick. San Jose were trending down, the Canucks are trending up. That '21 pick should be in the 20 to 30 range. Luke will be long gone.

  6. Luke Hughes isn’t on the same scale as Quinn or Jack. Sorry to say, but this is overhype.

  7. I’m reading tsn has this guy ranked at the end of the second round. Sorry but this kind of click bait is going to keep me away from your channel

  8. The crazy thing is 2 other defenseman could be better then Luke Hughes – Owen Power – and Brandt Clarke in the 2021 draft

  9. L. Hughes has no business being planned for haha probably won’t be in the top 10 next year. May be a top 10 “D” in the draft but there’s not way you alter any decision making based on getting him. If he falls to you.. good… if he doesn’t… you’ll be okay

  10. As a wings fan, i really want Luke Hughes next year. Him and Seider on the top pair together would work so well
