This is my 2020-21 Upper Deck Alexis Lafreniere Collection break. I discuss the likelihood of stabbing an auto, per the marketing on the box. I also compare Lafreniere and McDavid’s junior stats, which are surprisingly similar. I’m obviously not deriving any conclusion from this as they are very different players who play different positions and have different styles. Still, it would explain some of the expectations around both players upon their arrival up in “The Show” aka NHL.

You might recognize the music. It is a live off the floor remake of an old classic by The Cult. I blast it because – why not – it’s Saturday!

    #dryden …I'm sorry but I didn't think that even McDavid deserved his own set! This has become a cash grab and def not the worth! Even if you pulled Laffy's auto. Not impressed!

    NOTE: The reason I chose this box was consumer advocacy to discuss the likelihood of hitting autos compared to 20/21 UD Star Rookies (or e.g. 19/20 UD Rookie Set). The Star Rookies have one auto per case, so a 5% shot at an auto. The AF Collection has only 25 autos in the entire population of boxes (less than 25, as many boxes will never be opened). So, there really aren't any autos, as the likelihood trends to 0% (certainly a fraction of 1%, depending on the amount of boxes produced).

    I don't see what he did to deserve his own set. Truly exceptional players I can see ( crosby, mcjesus). Just being the 1st pick shouldn't warrent this set. Just my 2 cents. Great video as usual professor hockey. #dryden

    You are right the chance of an auto in this product is almost 0%! I don’t think I’ve seen anyone hit it. Definitely better to get the rookie box set since that has a 1 in 20 box chance of landing a scribble of some sort. I grabbed a box of this for fun! Just wanted one in the collection and take a chance at that holy grail lol.

    The set is pretty cool and it looks nice. The auto odds are like the mid 90's odds where they were rarer than Bigfoot sightings. The cult jam at the end has me digging through my old cds cause they are now on tonight's playlist. Fantastic speedy video!

    Cool video…well everyone is saying that the auto odds are STEEP! I won one of these sets and I'm waiting for Canada Post to deliver. I hope I get an auto!
