I think ESPN forces the dumbing down. I’ve seen NFL do it too.

  2. neverleavehouse

Messier has been hit in the head way too many times to be an analyst.

Sounds like he’s having a stroke with every show

  3. Puckz_N_Boltz90

Love how they are trying to be cooler by wearing suits with sneakers but aside from the chucks they can’t even rock a cool pair lol Messier needs to step that game up the sports center guys are rocking heat sometimes!

  4. spiredbicycle

TNT crew is so much better. I’ve watched thousands of games and almost always skip intermission shows. Except theirs. They actually have something valuable to say and deliver it soundly

  5. Cause they already took the money and it’s too late to admit they have no chemistry.

  6. Duke686

Hideous…..ESPN is a woke Joke. To bad for Mess ….guess he craves the spotlight? 🤔

They keep doing this because of our culture. This redundant show, the importance placed on trivial stupid shit, is our culture of production.

This segment is more likely than not a bullet point on some intern’s résumé. Some up-and-coming tv producer or media student can say, “I successfully implemented a live intermission segment during NHL intermission encompassing x.x million confirmed viewers.”

Stupid shit like this is how students get jobs, how careers progress, and how money keeps flowing.

I hate the answer too because this is what my degree was in: stupid shit production.

  8. Macsmackin92

The NHL needs to educate potential fans about hockey. Ever watch cricket? I have no idea what’s going and won’t watch it again.

  9. kgentes

Espn is the worst. They are just trying to immitate a far better coverage and commentary crew over on TNT

  10. This must be ESPN. At least Sportsnet announcers don’t talk to us like we’re idiots who don’t understand hockey. These guys are clowns.

Sorry Messier, not like he’s reading this.

  11. LoCh0_xX

They see how everyone online adores TNT’s NBA show with Shaq and Barkley and they’re trying to make their own. It’s not too dissimilar to how they’re still trying to do cmon man without Boomer and his old gang.

  12. 71Motorfly

It’s unwatchable. I end up doing other shit during intermission.

  13. JonTheWizard

Because ESPN. They found success with personalities and skits, so now they’re trying to force it everywhere, especially in places where it’s not wanted.

  14. AwkwardPiece2019

I guess we should be grateful they aren’t making us all do the hokey pokey during intermission…yet.

  15. viperswhip

Because people who complain about missed icings, and calls think hockey is too complicated for the masses and that must be why it is not more popular.

  16. funnieruphere

They are trying to be inside the nba, but they just look like San Antonio women.

  17. rhunter99

It’s a ridiculous bit that should be dumped

  18. tigerjam1999

Because you touch yourself at night.

  19. Toiletboy4

Inside the nba is so popular they want to replicate it

  20. Havoc_XXI

Forced by the show runners / money-payers, also telling them, “you better make it look like you’re enjoying it!” 😂 except when Biz does it, he actually enjoys it because it’s the most hockey he’s played

  21. leftpointsonly

My biggest takeaway has always been that all these dorks are wearing tennis shoes with suits

  22. Airbornetrooper

ESPN doesn’t know what they’re doing. They’re trying their best, but it’s a poor show. They should’ve brought on some regular hockey heads when they came back to ESPN, but instead they tried to make their regular talking heads do the work and they have no idea what’s goin on, no fault of their own.

Next year they need to get it together because they have a great product, they just don’t know how to showcase it.

  23. Guy_onna_Buffalo

This sneakers/casual shoes and suits things sportscasters do now drives me up the wall

  24. Future-Cover6840

Maybe we should start a petition for more advanced intermission shows, like interpretive dance or science demonstrations.

  25. Semprovictus

Sportsnet (canadian broadcast network) did this a few years ago, and I hated it… Always awkward as hell, adds no actual value to the broadcast, and is just so dumb.

Like, what’s wrong with having four people sitting around a table discussing the game and breaking down key moments… What’s so wrong with that

Honestly this week’s intermissions for me anyway have sucked without Bieksa on. He has truly ruined me for quality intermissions. I actually make sure I watch the intermission when he’s on, otherwise I ignore it and walk away

  26. Get a VPN and you can watch hockey on Hockey Night in Canada at CBC Gem and you can skip ESPN. CBC Gem is a free online live TV for Canadians.

  27. capsrock02

Try to generate buzz and views. They suck at it.

  28. Chris300000000000000

They’re trying to match the energy of NBA on TNT (which will be difficult to do without people like Shaq and Chuck).

  29. PRN_Dilaudid

Because they fired don and need to fill the time with something other than half baked timmies adds.

  30. justinknechtel

It’s because there’s no one at ESPN that actually knows anything about hockey. I hate ESPN hockey coverage
